To be expected against the National Champs. Riverside is in big time rebuilding mode.

Quite so. Keep it close in first half. Kudos to Tom and his team.

Tough matchup, Mt. SAC is a terrific program, best in SoCal for sure.
Craft will win big at Riverside. These aren't even his players yet.

Don't forget Kevin Craft played there when dad was offensive coordinator.

From what I have heard, Tom will have quite a few of the kids he wants by next season. They have a choice between Division One schools with losing records or having fun at Riverside JC while developing their skills for a BigTime School with a winning reputation.

I obvious don't have your sources Joe, but given the time I have spent in high school football ranks, etc.....I would bet you 99% of the kids will take the D1 "ride" every time over the JC walk on. Tom will win at Riverside though.

A lot of other kids when given a choice of going to Idaho State hundreds of miles away from home or going to a local championship chasing JC, where the family can see them, opt for the JC and family over a full ride at a losing school. When Tom Craft was at Palomar, he had a lot of linemen who went on to major Division One schools, a lot of QB's who went on to major Division One Schools, ditto for receivers, DB's, RB's and so on. The bottom line is, WINNING IS FUN AND LOSING SUCKS.

Sitting on the bench for two years or even more at a losing Division One school is not fun. The guys get depressed. A lot of guys just do not see themselves as college students, and it is easier to take classes and bang the girls in JC than it is to go to Big University where they feel lost all the time. A lot of my Samoan Cousins opt for that pathway. For those who are not inclined to academics, it is easy to transfer to Big University, play two football seasons while taking some nominal classes AND enjoying life while winning football games.

The kids who walk away from D1 scholarships to go to JC are either failing grades, Having issues or have lost a spark. If you are playing you are not walking.
