Whom would you pick as a coach (or coaches) most in danger of getting fired if their teams don't get to a bowl this year?
Here are two that I would name: Ralph Friedgen of Maryland and Dennis Erickson of ASU. Right not Maryland is 3-1, a good start for Ralph. Erickson is 2-2 at ASU, but some tough games are coming up.
Feel free to nominate other coaches who may be packing their bags in December.

Paul Wulff head douche at wazzu. The cougs are due to visit Qualcomm next September so I'm not sure if I want to see Wulff or a new coach struggling to install a new offense & defense??
I just want to see a beatdown & payback!

Along that same line, does anybody know what happened at New Mexico to out Rocky and then bring in that present guy who does not have a clue?

Locksley may not finish the season. Anyone know how much UNM would owe him if they fired him at seasons end?
He has been a trainwreck there.
Erickson definitely has to be on the hot seat.
Denard Robinson is saving Rich Rod's ass at UM, but they still need to do well in Big 10 play, they haven't done anything impressive yet.
If they lose 2-3 Big 10 games, they may need a win over the Buckeyes to see Rich Rod in 2011.

You gotta wonder how happy people are with Fairchild at CSU?

That's what I thought too, Fishtec. However, a UNM fan said just yesterday on the MWC board that they're still paying off Rocky's contract. If that guy is correct, Rocky was apparently forced out. To answer the question William posed, Tim Brewster at Minnesota is a virtual goner. Check the losses he's had in this 1-3 year and you can see why. I don't remember who Brewster beat in the opener but he lucked out in that one of the opponent's stars got suspended and didn't play. In addition to Wulff and Brewster, Dan Hawkins is as good as gone at Colorado. Also, Mark Richt's seat is very, very hot at Georgia since he wasn't in good standing when the season began and is already 0-3 in the SEC and Ron Zook doesn't figure to return at Illinois. Also, McKanin or whatever his name is who replaced June Jones at Hawaii could be in trouble. He hasn't just failed to win very often, he's made a couple stupid statements that have embarrassed the school, including a homophobic comment a year ago which in the Islands went over like a fart in a phone booth.

If Rocky wholly walked away or was forced out, you can almost bank their was some sort of settlement.
ASU played pretty well the other night other than the 7 turnovers, but I think his seat is still pretty warm. Ricky has earned himself a couple more years with their last 2 games, getting out of that stretch of games 2 and 2 is not too shabby.

That's a damn tough place to rebuild. $#!+ location, recruiting against the PAC-10.......it makes you appreciate what Mike Price got done there all the more. I empathize for Wulff. Alot of good coaches would lose there.

Wazzu brought Wulff in from EWU, just a glorified JC program. Unfortunately for Wulff he chose to bring his entire staff with him. The assistants aren't D1 quality & it shows. I wonder how many of the wazzu players are ready to run back to Fla or CA like their hair was on fire?

If that guy is correct, Rocky was apparently forced out. If he was forced out, that would come close to the two stupidest things in the history of college football, which were the firings of Gilbert and Scovil, both here at San Diego State. Boosters cause so much trouble for football programs. They have the money, so think that they should have some say so in who is hired to coach. All they usually do is fug things up.

Locksley, Locksley, and Locksley.
Those assistants need to be putting out resumes now.

I wonder if things are getting warm for Tedford at Cal? Does not seem to be able to get that program to the elite level while across the Bay at Stanford it looks like Harbaugh is building a beast.

Rocky's run there was over, I think all parties were ready to move on after never taking the next step and then starting to regress. Much like Chuck seemed like he was poised to become a head coach, so did Locksley, unfortunately, assistants often don't pan out and being a head coach is more than recruiting an area and bringing in a few good players and calling plays.

And probably a few more who chose Wazzu over offers from Long.

If that guy is correct, Rocky was apparently forced out. Long wasn't accused of any wrongdoing, but in 2008 NM football was involved in a serious academic fraud scandal that resulted in three years probation and loss of 5 scholarships per year for 2009, 2010 and 2011. www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2008-08-20-1452036409_x.htmsports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3940757In other words, Long saw the writing on the wall. That program was headed for disaster whether or not he stayed around.
