I think the Chargers absolutely have a good chance to beat Cincy, then win in New England. I like their chances against these teams. I think we'll win in Cincinnati. New England might be a different story. We have quite a few holes, especially on defense. However, it seems to me like there aren't all that many really good teams this year. It'll be fun either way. New england doesn't have all their weapons, but that usually doesn't stop them. It would be just like the Chargers to get these two wins, the way this season's gone for them.

It's not unheard of for a wild card team to win the Super Bowl. See Oakland Raiders.

If the Chargers beat Cincy they would play at Denver in the next round, Not New England. (Lowest seed always plays the highest, #6 @ #1)

It's not unheard of for a wild card team to win the Super Bowl. See Oakland Raiders. Ya.. Ask Raymond Chester. On a side note. I had the pleasure of meeting the late Bobby Chandler back in 1992. He was with a company making sales calls in Boston, when I was there. He looked nothing like a football player, but he had this huge diamond ring, which I could tell was obviously a Super Bowl ring. When I inquired he took it off without hesitation and handed it to me to see. World Champs. Chandler. I congratulated him and shared that I was there at the Murph to witness the AFC title game, which would have been the Chargers best ever hope to be Super Bowl champs VS the Eagles, who the Raiders beat, instead of the Chargers. Anyway. RIP Bob Chandler. Just goes to show, you can atttend USC, be good friends with OJ Simpson, and play for the Raiders, and still be a class individual.

I love hearing all the pundits on the boards saying Cincy will blow us away. I used to think that years ago against the Pats and then the Jets. Yeah, right. What a foolish thought. On any given day..... If you watched the Chargers the last two games you should not be surprised in the least that the pundits are saying that.

? Huh? Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards According to people I trust (and lots of anecdotal evidence), the guys tore it up pretty good in the days leading up to the Cinci game. This includes the night before. Either way, this I know: It was cold on both sides of the field. Odd. Makes little sense from an athlete's perspective. Sorry to hear. Hope it's just here say. Odd. Makes little sense from an athlete's perspective. Sorry to hear. Hope it's just here say. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards As you might remember, cocaine was the drug du jour in the early eighties, and the sports world wasn't exempt. Chargers have had more than their share of drug issues. A family friend was a pretty prominent sports agent back in the day and wow did I hear stories. New Orleans lost 14 games in a row in 1980, when freebasing became a popular pastime in the NFL. New Orleans was a horror show. Players snorted coke in the locker room before games and again at halftime, and stayed up all hours of the night roaming the streets to get more stuff. I know. I was one of them. San Diego is a team that should have won the Super Bowl twice by now, as talented as it is. San Diego has a big drug problem. For a short time, I was part of it. I played my last football in San Diego in 1981.si.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1125620/2/index.htm"That team was in a stupor that day," Klein told the magazine, "and I thought it was the cold. A lot of them had a lot of cocaine in them." He didn't identify any players.
Klein said a federal investigator told him several months later that one of the Charger players purchased a kilogram of cocaine in Florida, where the Chargers played the Miami Dolphins the week before the Bengal game.
The Chargers defeated Miami, 41-38, in overtime to advance to the championship game. The player allegedly smuggled the cocaine back to San Diego on the team's charter flight and shared it with teammates in the days before the Cincinnati game.articles.latimes.com/1988-05-06/sports/sp-2923_1_charger-playersWell, Chuck Muncie was on that team, so that's at least one.

Ugh, thanks for reopening that old wound, was at that game, damn Wilbur Young... Wow. I was sure the one who jumped offsides was Leroy Jones, and was getting ready to correct you. But googling tells me it was Wilbur Young. Sorry Leroy.

Hasn't happened yet this season. Good point. Also, their best games (offensively anyway) this season have been on the road in outdoor stadiums, so I'm not w/o hope...

80% chance for snow and rain now. I don't think that's natural for either team.

At least it won't be negative wind chill like that "ice bowl" game back in the early 1980's. The Bengal are tough this year, especially at home.

If both Aztecs and Bolts pull the road upsets, I'd argue it would be the best college-pro combo sports day in SD history. I can't think of a bigger one fromthe past, can anyone else?
