Just for the record, here is the Republican health care reform plan. You may not agree with it, but at least no one can truthfully say that the GOP has not offered an alternative to ObamaCare. rsc.scalise.house.gov/solutions/rsc-betterway.htmAzWm

Hahahaha @ the plan itself.
But, maybe they should have voted on this 42 times instead of wasting time and money on Obamacare repeals... Just a thought.

Ultimately, ObamaCare (or ACA) will either prove to be a wonderful advancement for this country or it will be a complete disaster. Well, there is a third option, I guess. It may prove to be a pretty bad kludge that is clearly a lemon, but not so completely disastrous that those whose political reputations are at risk if the law must be repealed will give in and agree to a do-over. In that case, we will just have to live with it, no matter how unsatisfactory it is and how much more it will cost us than if we had simply done nothing.
My fear is that we will experience the last of those three possible outcomes. In other words, unless the sky falls, we will be stuck with a badly planned scheme replete with negative, and expensive, unintended consequences.

I like this plan. And it still could be improved. I am not at all worried that Obamacare will be around. New numbers say 129 million won't be able to keep their present policies whisch they like, and a new report out of New York say that 44percent of doctors won't accept Obamacare patients until they know what they are reimbursed, which could be forever. There is a doctor group in Oklahoma that will only take patients who self fund when Obamacare kicks in. In another thread I stated that my own doctor won't accept Medicare or the new law and will just close his doors if backed into a corner. We will have huge doctor shortage if this happened. Obama lied.........period.

Being able to see the right type of physician in a reasonable amount of time is quite another. AzWm

In a truly free market environment, shortages cause prices to rise. What we have here is an attempt to control and restrict care. If you are saying there will be a black market outside government control you might be right, but it would not last long. People will throw out Liberals and restore order should chaos set in.

The insurance industry. Explain that. Seems to me that the Insurance Industry is only doing what would be expected in this situation and going in the direction the Obama folks pointed them in.

Although I prefer libertarian solutions to most problems, I do accept that in some cases the free market has trouble getting the job done. (That's why we don't have private fire departments.) In the case of very sick people or ones with a per-existing conditions, a government subsidy is probably the best way to go. Reorganizing the whole health care funding system, as ObamaCare does, was overly ambitious. We need elegant solutions that are simple and straight forward.
ObamaCare is not simple and it is not straight forward.

Hahahaha @ the plan itself. You might be right, but I'm curious what specifically you find humorous about the plan. Bullet points 4, 5, and 7. 4 and 5 because of the approach it takes to reform, and what they are actually trying to do. And 7 because... Well, 7 should be self-explanatory.

Ultimately, ObamaCare (or ACA) will either prove to be a wonderful advancement for this country or it will be a complete disaster. Well I think we all know which you are hoping for. Now that's just mean. I would be delighted if the ACA became the greatest thing since sliced bread. I just don't think there is much chance that it will. It's too big, too complicated, and depends too much on the competence of government agents whose aptitude for this sort of thing is questionable. You know, it's not a matter that government can do nothing right. Nor is it true that the private sector always does a great job. Society needs government to do a number of things that cannot be done to our satisfaction by private individuals or groups. The court system is a good example. National defense is another. The basic folly of collectivists is that government does almost everything well. Hubris is a nasty conceit. AzWm

Now that's just mean. I would be delighted if the ACA became the greatest thing since sliced bread. It wasn't meant to be "mean." When rush limbaugh said he hoped Obama would fail, I knew what he meant. It wasn't mean of him to say, in effect, that he wished failure upon an agenda with which he disagreed. For the president's plan to succeed, the government will need to expand considerably.I know you aren't hoping for that. I certainly hope that it is not what happens. You know, I would love to hear from "progressives" the answer to these questions (Feel free to explain your answers.) 1) Do you agree or disagree with this statement; Increases in the power of government (in the case of the U.S.A. that means especially the power of the federal government) necessarily mean a further limitation of individual rights and liberties.2) Do you agree or disagree with this statement; No increase in the size, scope, and power of the federal government should be opposed purely on the grounds that such increases erode individual freedoms.
2) Do you agree or disagree with this statement; It is the principal job of government (at any level) to bring about fairness in society.
