xrl.us/bhzwfrThis is pretty funny. None of these union people could explain the protest signs they were given at this SEIU organized protest. Andrew Bretbart backed the entire union mob down.

Unions exist to create a more even bargaining position between the employees and the business. Businesses exist to make a profit. That is their only purpose.
Real Capitalism depends on a free negotiation between those with more or less equal leverage and information. Are you not a Capitalist?
Briebart is an unimpressive person.

Look at the video in the link and you will see part of why unions generally disgust me. Look at what teachers unions have done to education in this country. Look at one of the big reasons that our auto industry had to be bailed out. Go look at the link I posted about the union labor drinking and smoking weed at lunch before returning to work at Chrysler. Some of the union members and all the leadership of the unions are just really bad and selfish people. The time for union action is gone for the most part. What happens now just hurts our economy.

Though I can find many reasons to disagree with some of his positions, I greatly admire Andrew Breitbart. The man has a beautiful brain and is very talented.

I can't watch Breibart. He makes me ill. Teachers have done nothing to education but try to improve it. They work very hard in the face of the real problem, which is parent disinterest and economic conditions that make it difficult for them to participate in their kids education, because they have to work. I also think drug and alcohol abuse by parents contributes. If you would like proof of my claim, you need look no farther than DOD schools. They are considered the best public schools in this country. The teachers are GS-9s, so they don't make a fortune. What they have that other public schools don't have is a commanding officer. Guess what commanding officers do when one of their subordinate's kids have a problem in a DOD school? DOD schools get participation. The auto companies are corporations, with shareholders, CEOs and considerable (often overwhelming) bargaining power. What you are implying is that that corporations have no power in the face of union representation. Since union representation is a shadow of what it once one, you can only conclude that management holds its own with unions. Which leads us to the real reason the auto companies needed to be bailed out and the reason is that their owners and managers did not operate the companies properly. If management cannot or will not negotiate effectively, they should be fired. I just cannot buy the argument that CEOs are helpless in the face of unions. That is just - not - true. I don't know whats in the film, but I know a lot of union people and your characterization is wrong. You cite one example and draw an erroneous conclusion. Win, we disagree almost always, but I still like ya! ;D

Statistically, the private schools do better when educating the above 100 IQ students. Public schools do better with the retards, but the retards do not go on to run the country for the next generation. We need to go to a voucher system to improve the quality of education for those most likely to benefit therefrom. In the future, the public schools could be downsized to one third their present size and they could specialize in preparing the retarded students for trade schools.

It is about tactics, and not the goals. It is about bussed in paid protesters who have no knowledge of the issue that the union is paying them to protest over. I also enjoy talking to someone who is pleasant about it in spite of being consistently wrong. You are right about DOD schools to a point. I have seen the system at work in Japan.

Government workers should not be allowed to join unions. Unions were intended for workers of large, semi-large private sector businesses. IRS employees are in a union, did you know?
Hail.

It takes union representation to correct grievances that are truly unjust. Government Management is either not there, or abusive to workers. Were it not for Unions, many government employees would be eaten alive by the system.

There are many ills within the government work place. I can not think of a single thing that was made better for working level folks with the union coming in at where I worked. I can think of the biggest problem created was a widening of the management and worker divide by introducing unions and pitting one against the other.
