Cathedral HS looks to have a great slate of games to watch in the first week. We might have to venture out and scout the PHS competition!

Lots of intra squad scrimmages this weekend. PHS played their annual Green and Gray scrimmage today. Freshman v JV, JV v Varsity. Really more of a chance for parents to cheer for their kids than a chance to see where the team stands. Still, it was fun to watch, and one more day closer to the start of the season.

I see that five of your top six picks are from the Open Division (Oceanside, Mission Hills, Poway, Helix, and Eastlake). The other Open Division teams La Costa Canyon, Steele Canyon, and Torrey Pines may have strong seasons, also. So the CIFSDS's ranking system may be validated. Open Division • 8 teams; 8 advance to playoffs. Oceanside, HELIX, Eastlake, Mission Hills, La Costa Canyon, Poway, STEELE CANYON, Torrey Pines. You need to add a section to your analysis of each team. Besides key player lost, and returning studs you need a slot for Magical Who knows how it all works TRANSFERS. So, under the MWKHIAW slot in the O'side portion add Josh Harris!! How does that happen? Up until this AM when I read that I was a huge John Carroll fan. Now, notsomuch. It stinks as much as when Marty Graham ended at Torrey Pines and still lived in Lemon Grove, but somehow had a nice new ride.

Well, SD, the one thing not included in your review is impact underclass men. It's hard to know what each school has coming on board, but in some cases that could make or break a team. Good review of the info that's available, though. Thanks!

I doubt there's any wrong doing on Carroll's part but I guess we'll find out soon.

Many parents are willing to do whatever it takes to get their kid in the program/exposure needed to get to the next level. Still, how do you know what the motivation for this was? Me, my kid gets a great education at Poway Unified, and unless we sell our house and move out of PUSD, I guess the coaches are stuck with us.

I thought all transfers, that didn't involve divorce or the whole family moving, had to be done before entering the 9th grade. The Helix AD has asked the CIF to look into the deal.

The number of football scholarship players from OHS is not much different than the number from HHS. Those are the top two in the county over the last 10+ years.
