Ok, the Padres have fallen into a deep slump and without a true ace to throw a shut out, the Pads are now mired in a 7 game losing streak. Oh well, we had a couple of weeks of excitement while the Pads flirted with a plus .500 record. But unfortunately this young and modestly talented team has reverted to form, 8 games below .500.
Will the new ownership eventually punt with some of the young players and bring in some legit major league calibre hitters or are we going to have to watch Venable and Maybin hit .225 for the next few seasons?

8 game losing streak. Last place again secured. And now no Grandal. This is just seriously bad. Plus the whole staff is suffering from rag arms atm. Something has to change and soon. ESPN was suggesting trading for Cliff Lee. I almost fell out of my chair laughing at that one.

ESPN was suggesting trading for Cliff Lee. I almost fell out of my chair laughing at that one. Even though this losing streak is hard to watch, everyone should take a step back and reflect on where you thought this team might be after their 5-15 start. The season is extremely long, and as Padres fans, we shouldn't be surprised by the slumping--it tends to happen every year. That being said, we just barely eclipsed the half-way mark of the season, and we're still only 6 games out of first. Disaster? Absolutely not. I would argue that no team in the MLB has been plagued by as many injuries as we have. In the next two weeks, we get to look forward to the returns of Gyorko (who could easily win ROTY) and Yonder (who showed that he could develop into a mini-Adrian). This team has been fun to watch this year, and I'd be the first to agree with you that we definitely need to trade for an arm. Matt Garza, maybe? Only if the price is right. My preference would be Bud Norris from the Astros. The guy can pitch, and would be a great fit at Petco as long as the asking price isn't too big. In the meantime, let's hope for a win today against SDSU's youngster to break the streak--and maybe even head into the All-Star break with a little bit of momentum. These guys have been playing good ball, all they need is to get that swagger back--and we'll be swinging the hot shillelaghs in no time.

It very likely has something to do with the amount of road doubles the Padres have been hitting, and their BA with a 2-1 count. This will even back out in the Padres favor, sooner or later.

Road doubles? You're thinking a little too deep into this. Let's start with getting runners on base, and having good at-bats. And also our pitchers getting ahead in the count.

Sorry, it's kind of an inside joke. You'd have to have read this board for a little while.

No worries, glad that it was merely a joke. And I've actually frequented this board for years, although I was previously most likely to be found reading the Aztec-related posts.
Either way, let's hope we can break the funk at home.

Either way, let's hope we can break the funk at home. Tough to battle back from 10 games under to go 2 up and lose most of it via a 9 game losing streak. They must start again. Hopefully coming home and playing teams (15 and 10 games below .500 on the road) that aren't playing as well as Miami (11-3 at home over last 14 games), Boston (15 games above .500 at home), and Washington (9 games above .500 at home) will help. They will have to close the gap in July or be sellers in August.

No expectations, passion or accountability from Black. When do his teams ever "over acheive"? Horrible situational hitting, swinging at bad pitches when ahead in the count, afraid to hit in their own ballpark, ........ do I need to go on?
Why does he continue to have a job? Why do fans show up to be bored? Oh wait, they don't. Opponents fans do.

Did I mention how much I like Black ALWAYS giving credit to the other team when they lose? He refuses to take accountability for blowing games. He refuses to say "We gave the game away" or "We should have won". Obviously, he is fine with losing. When you have a weak attitude like that, it's no surprise his teams are subject to regular losing streaks.
I have been a Padres fan my entire life and he is the most useless manager I ever seen. When does he make individuals better? When does he make the team perform better than it's parts? When does he "out coach" other managers?
