When there was talk of the GOP using the so-called nuclear option to get things done in the U.S. Senate a few years ago, guess who was totally opposed? That's right, Harry Reid. The precious right of the minority to filibuster was just too important to get rid of by using the 51% reconciliation method instead of the 60 votes needed to cut off debate on a bill. Well, guess who now has amnesia on this point. Yup! Reid again. As this author says. . . There's no splitting this particular hair. You can't support using the filibuster when it suits your interests, then get rid of it when it doesn't. Well, maybe Reid and the Dems will decide that it's only when THEY are in the minority that the filibuster should be protected. www.lvrj.com/opinion/reid-champion-of-the-filibuster-might-nuke-it-64690187.htmlThe only silver lining in this is that Reid is likely to lose his seat if he does use the nuclear option to get the health bill passed over the objection of the GOP and a clear majority of the public. Does this surprise ANYONE?
Good grief, the thing I hate most about the spineless Republicans is how they let themselves get rolled over and over again, and the fools never learn.

AzWm It would appear that Reid will lose his seat no matter what he does if present polls are correct. I am afraid that I am one who was also for the Nuke option when it was fixing Medicare and Social Security a few years ago. My only defense is that I was on the right (correct) side of the issues.

I would be an Independent or even Libertarian if it mattered much. I so want to cast meaningful votes against liberals that I just about always vote for Republicans. Some of you others are more dedicated to Libertarian ideas that you throw your votes away. I can't scold you for that. It is just that I am so against liberals that I would wait till there was a chance for a Libertarian to win before I would vote that way. Silly me!
