SDSU should be back in the top 20 next week with a "W" over the Lobos.

These rankings mean little or nothing; they're fun to follow, but aggravating because of the built in bias towards the big name BB programs. If Duke falls further than 5 places next Monday, it'll be a true miracle. And the way they got beaten yesterday, they should be out of the top 10.

And by bias you mean they favor teams that win championships. Win or lose duke has earned that respect. Id be shocked if they didn't make the elite 8. Us on the other hand... I doubt many of you have that high of expectations.

If you lose by 30 to #25 you should not be in the top 10.
Have we ever lost by 30 in the last 10 years???

Do you think Duke's board is melting down over their loss like ours was after Wyoming?

If Oklahoma and Illinois win, the top six ranked teams will have all lost this week along with 16 of the top 25.

I doubt it... National media hates the MWC Let's consider the Big East basketball league. For years, the teams would post pre-league, out of conference records like 14-1, 12-2, 11-3. The national espner pollsters would then place six or seven of the Big East league teams in the top 25 rankings. Then, the league games would start and all of the Big East teams would play .500 ball against each other. The pollster would not drop any of the teams out of the top 25 rankings, claiming that the league had a high strungth of schedule. So, by the ncaa tournament, the Big East league teams would end up with overall records of 18-8, 17-9, and 16-10. Come selection time, the Big East league would then get nine or ten teams into the ncaa tournament. Fast forward to this season. The same win-loss record is posted by the Mtn West Conf, but a big difference. The MWC starts league play and as soon possible with just one loss or two, the MWC teams get jettisoned out of the top 25. The MWC has the third best strungth of schedule in the nation. Another double, standard, east coast espner bias. HAM

I would put us in the high teens if we can take care of new mexico. WHAT? We must be tracking different teams. The SDSU team I've been following the past several weeks doesn't deserve anything higher than the #32 ranking it currently possesses. Win vs UNM... then we're talking about #22 or so.

Unless you're consistently among the top 15, worthless.
But I will admit that being ranked is a good recruiting tool.
Whether NM is ranked or not, we need to beat them to remain alive in the MWC race.

The poll is biased towards good teams. Are you a Seinfeld writer? I love the dry witty humor.

ESPN uses the AP poll this year so quoting the Coaches edition is pointless.
