Being dropped from the rankings at this point of the season - at least for teams in the lower half - is not that big a deal. Conference play has just begun.
A big question is whether or not getting booted from the top 25 will provide sufficient motivation to the players to evaluate their own contributions to the team.
Regardless, if the last two games are any indication of where the team is going, this year's Aztec basketball team needed a wake up call.
And they got it.

It's not that big of a deal if we win both games this week. We win these two games we will move up to 22/23 in the polls. If we lose to UNM we will be at about 30/35. A few more loses after that and we are a bubble team.

Wake up call should of been after we gave up 48 points to Vegas at home in 20 minutes.
