Franklin's rebounding is ungodly for a guy his size. He's not a big bruiser who blocks out and takes up space, a la Michael Cage. And he's not a fairly tall guy with long arms and big hands who is a human vacuum cleaner when he gets near the ball, a la Kawhi Leonard. And he's not a tall, lanky guy who's always in the paint, getting position, boxing out, working over a 7-footer, getting nasty and then going up in a crowd to come down with the ball, a la Dennis Rodman.
What he does is move relentlessly, fly through the air from the outside or the baseline and snatch the ball away before anyone can react or get a hand on it. Most of his rebounds are clean picks that he doesn't really have to battle anyone for. And he gets an amazing number of lose balls that fall to the ground after a shot. He makes it look easy.
Right now he's at 10.8 boards a game. If he can push his average up another couple points, he'll be in M. Cage territory. That will be truly impressive.

Too bad they don't track offensive fouls, I bet Jamaal would be high on the list for that one too.

rebounding is about desire... how bad do you want the ball? dennis rodman who wasn't a big guy was an insane rebounder... and a bit insane!

rebounding is about desire... how bad do you want the ball? dennis rodman who wasn't a big guy was an insane rebounder... and a bit insane! People always say that, but I've always thought desire is just one of about 4 or 5 components. Of course, you have to want the ball. But when you're 6'5" and everyone else is 6'10", that's usually not enough. Rebounding is also about positioning, footwork, boxing out, having a perpetual motor, keeping your eye on the ball, and, importantly, from the second the ball leaves someone's hand for a shot, knowing exactly where the ball is going to carom. And then being able to head for that spot before anyone else does. Some guys have a knack for that. Some don't. JF clearly has knack.

for sure, you need to have proper technique, get yourself in the right spot, at the right time, but desire is a huge component. and he does have a knack for knowing where the ball will be. maybe because dude is constantly in the gym and has seen the carom of shots much more than the average guy.

Everyone's primary goal is to be #1 in technicals. Oh my. Hang in there, Matt

Number one in the country for technical fouls? Is that correct?

That is indeed correct. Hang in there, Matt

I'm guessing that JF took Fish under his arm and gave him a "good talking to" about technicals after the FSU game.
