"The guy is picked to be player of the year and was player of the year last year in the Mountain West Conference. He is a versatile player that can play the 3 or the 4 and he is a tough matchup, not just for us but for everyone in this league. He is the kind of guy that tries to bring a lot of intimidation. We weren't going to let guys just talk and make us afraid. Our guys weren't going to be afraid. We play the game, we don't talk, we're just going to play the game. But that is their M.O. and that is their leaders' M.O. and I thought our guys for the better part of the game did a good job with that."
He seems to be having a hard time complimenting Jamaal. Give me a friggin' break! Sit close to court side on ANY college BB game and listen to the trash talk. It's non-stop! Yeah, his guys are angels and don't resort to that sort of thing...sure. The "we play the game, we don't talk" comment is the most off base part of this. I mean did the guy look at the stat line for Jamaal before he commented? 20 pts and 18 rebounds? I'd say Jamaal played just fine. Those kind of comments are the ones that can come back to bite you in the ass. The kid that was making the 3's for them, also commented that they can't wait to play us again at our place.
Hey, you played a good game, but you lost. They may have provided a bit of bulletin board material for that rematch.

The Fresno staff has been doing this for years. When we were in the same league and they were kicking our ass .... who trash talked? He needs something positive to build on ...

Interesting comments considering JFrank walked over to the Fresno guy who sprained his ankle and high fived him. I guess the Fresnecks just happened to not see that gesture of sportsmanship, huh?

Yes, that was a nice gesture of sportsmanship. Doesn't change the fact that Jammal is a hot dog and a punk. Just happens to be our hot dog/punk! I would absolutely despise him if he played for UNLV or imagine BYU?

I've said it for 2 years that if Jamaal played for any other team I would hate him more than any other player ever.. even Jimmer.

Oh well. He's butt-hurt, but I don't blame him. That dunk was pretty disrespectful, and I loved every moment of it. And who complains about trash talking in basketball? This, the sport that has now made honey nut cheerios infamous? Give me a break.

This, the sport that has now made honey nut cheerios infamous? Give me a break. Loved it too. Still lovin it. Trash talk in basketball is as common as Nike shoes in basketball. It is there to stay, no way around it.

Their players were talking trash and scowling and thumping their chests too. They had an attitude of a Top 25 team and not a sub .500 team. They need a reality check on who they are. Once you make the Top 25 then you can do that stuff. Until then shut the F up and play basketball . Also their coach needs to calm the F down on the sidelines. He is almost as bad a Boylin was.

Jamaal is a great player who motivates himself with trash talk. He get's under everyone's skin. I have no problem with the way Jamaal plays or the Fresno's coaches response to it. It's all part of competition.

I don't agree with the Fresno coach that his players were above all that, it was pretty even from what I saw. I love Jamaal's talent and how hard he tries, but sometimes I hate his attitude. Their coach is right, he is our leader and sometimes our whole team adopts his attitude. Compare the way we won with Kawhi against the way we win with Jamaal (with the exception of trash talking Jimmer in the MWC tourney). It's impossible to hate Kawhi, he's humble and plays the right way, but if I were a fan of any other team I would think Jamaal is a total punk. With that said, I am not a fan of any other team and I love Jamaal.

I have no problem with what Rodney Terry said. He's right - Jamaal is an intimidator who comes extremely close to crossing the line at times (Kemba bump, Jimmer face-off, teabagging Syracuse player, dodgeball with Phillip McDonald's face, etc). The Fresno coach said his players weren't going to back down at their place; good for him and good for them. Jamaal still got nearly a 20-20.

That dunk was pretty disrespectful, and I loved every moment of it. Disrespectful? Huh? It was a tight game, on the road, in conference, and Maal took (for him) a high percentage shot. The dunk could be considered disrespectful only if he did it late in blowout game, e.g., like being up by 37 points with 2:00 minutes to go.

They are going to get rolled in Viejas. I totally agree. Being on the road, and having a different point guard running the offense messed up our flow. I'll bet Chase is a monster in the next game on the Mesa.
