Defense in the last 2 minutes won this game for the Aztecs. Shepard with the key block, Jamaal with the clutch FT's.
Fresno has talent. Their big men kept them in the game.

I kept flashing back to SDSU destroying a ranked Fresno team in the early 2000s during this game. Had a bad feeling it might be the same thing but opposite.
I don't see making fun of fans and players being pumped about playing a top ranked team. SDSU is big time and everyone is going to bring their A game. Besides, SDSU fans, students and players brought the same enthusiasm to a game against Fresno about a decade ago.

typical poster...'they suck no matter what' mentality...they played very well tonight and lets not take anything away from that. Just another lesson in this long season for the Aztecs.

Fresno got to the FT line 17 times, made 14 of those. SDSU got to the line 12 times and hit only 7. 58%... that's unacceptable. Aztecs turned the ball over 6 times in the first half alone, 11 total. FSU only had 5 in the entire game. Oh, 7 steals for Fresno. Unacceptable as well.
As I said, sloppy game by SDSU, but we still won on the road, in conference. That's huge. Regardless of where FSU was projected to finish in the MWC. Last year, Boise played MUCH better than their record indicated. Remember, a missed 3 as time expired at Viejas is what kept them from beating us.
I missed the first half, but what I saw in the second was a pretty sloppy game which is why it was close. The announcer summed it up & expressed it perfectly immediately after Jamaal's dunk: "ENOUGH OF THIS!!!"
Big props to Rahon & Stephens for stepping up when the team needed it. Sheppard with 4 points, but 7 assists. Golden and only going to improve to platinum status someday. Good teams find a way to win when they're not playing their best or have players out due to injury.

They played hard. They made shots. They didn't back down. They could have packed it in when they weer down 9,10,7 etc. Props to Fresno. The Color guy makes Quis seem smart, a hard thing to do. Exactly. They played tough against us. Props to Fresno st. Glad we were able to get that victory.

Two things I saw at last night's game that was disturbing.
Like last season, Aztecs do not have an inside game and a 6'5 guard is your leading rebounder. Hmmmm..
I did not see Chase Tapley last night. Is he still in Hawaii?

I did not see Chase Tapley last night. Is he still in Hawaii? When that 6'5" player gets 18 rebounds and you out rebound your opponent 36.7% to 30.7%, I wouldn't be worried about rebounding. In 2010-2011 we had one of the best Aztec rebounding teams ever and the top front court in NCAA basketball and yet the Aztecs SF (like Franklin) lead the team in rebounding. It isn't who gets them, it is if they are got.
