Rather see "Out for tonight" than "Out for the season".
You got big goals, X, and they don't need to include messing around with a bad back for an early January game in Fresno. You're teammates have your back (so to speak!). Rest up!!

It'd be worried if it were UNLV we played tonight. Fresno St? Meh.

In the 'trying to be an optomist' standpoint, at least with X out since the last game, the other PG have been practicing in that role and I'm sure Fisher has had them practicing against the press with Fresno likes to employ.
I actually expect Chase to do a lot of the ball handling tonight but between Tapley, Franklin, Shepard & O'Brien, we have enough options.
Still, tough to be w/o Thames and hopefully he is back Saturday or AT WORST Wednesday for UNLV.

Although we usually give it to Jamaal when something has to happen late in the clock anyway. It mostly hurts depth. If Shepard starts we are down to: Johnson, Spencer, Polee, and Rahon as backups. One unused, one redshirt, one injured, and one off on family issues, takes 13 to 9.

Not good
X is an important cog and the team will miss him tonight. With Fresno if the team plays thier tough defense they should win but on the road is always tough. Hopefully he gets better real soon because he will be needed against the rest of the league.

Rest up, you're services not needed tonight! Rahon has stepped up when needed, Shepard needs time. Hope to see him back in a few minutes by Sat, and ready to go vs UNLV!

Actually, it mostly hurts our outside shooting. We only have two guys who can shoot from the outside: Tapley and X. Taps is at 45%. X is at 42%. That's very, very good. Anything above about 39% is outstanding for college. Everyone else on the team sux from behind the arc. JF is at 24%. Rahon has tanked lately and is at 28%. Not having X in the game hurts our outside shooting two ways. First, it takes one of our best shooters out of the game (obvious.) Second, it allows the defenders to cheat on the outside toward Tapley. They can double him on the perimeter and shut down some of his torrid shooting. He won't get as many open looks if X isn't in the game. Cuz they're sure not going to pressure JF on the perimeter.

We'll miss his three point shot and leadership tonite. Thats what I am thinking. I love the timely 3s that X brings as well as a decent outside shot. It would be really nice if Shep was able to shoot the 3, but not sure since he really hasn't been called upon. I am looking forward to seeing him run the point. He has shown flashes of brilliance this year and potential to be the best ever to put the Aztec jersey on.
