news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091009/ap_on_re_eu/eu_nobel_peaceI'm really surprised that this hasn't been posted, and trashed, yet. My opinion is that he hasn't done anything yet that would qualify him to win the prize. He as much said so himself. It puts him between a rock and a hard place. What is he going to do, refuse it? I think that his remarks regarding the award were spot on. My respect for the committee just flew out of the window. There are many people out there that are much more deserving.

When I first read the headline on RealClearPolitics.com I thought it was an April-Fools type joke. . . seriously! This is so absurd that it goes beyond the humorous all the way to the ridiculous.

Do you think that it is some sort of expression of Norwegian endorsement for what Obama is trying to do? I just do not see how a person who has accomplished nothing can get awarded this prize for any reason but wishes or expectations. The Nobel Prize has been turned into a ill conceived joke.

The Nobel peace prize IS trash.
Move along. Nothing to see here.
Maybe the Pope can crown His Majesty "Holy Roman Emperor". It would be just as worthless.

Everyone should read the article you link here. Very good information. Regarding The One (well, our One, at least), two points: 1. He seems to be a bit embarrassed, as he should. 2. Even worse than giving him the award at all, it now is known that nominations for the award closed less than two weeks time after Obama had been sworn in as President. I.e., there was never any question at all of considering Obama's accomplishments. It was aways a man-crush type of infatuation with Barack's lofty (and now obviously vacuous) words. That and the fact that the Left mostly loves him because (in addition to his being half-white) he is NOT George Bush. AzWm

Here is some more: www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6868905.eceHere is a quote: "The award is also an example of what Nobel scholars call the growing aspirational trend of Nobel committees over the past three decades, by which awards are given not for what has been achieved but in support of the cause being fought for. Thorbjørn Jagland, the committee chairman, made clear that this year’s prize fell in that category. “If you look at the history of the Peace Prize, we have on many occasions given it to try to enhance what many personalities were trying to do,” he said. “It could be too late to respond three years from now.” Make sure you watch and listen to the film clip.
