Was/is BYU the better team? Last night they were, according to the scoreboard. But, what I saw was an Aztec team different than most I have watched over the years. This Aztec team was physical and outplayed BYU is large portions of the game. BYU had Van Noy, that was the difference. He was all over the field in the second half. He made the sack and recovered the fumble, and beat arguably our best offensive lineman on the play. He made the interception on what was arguably a terrible decision by a young qb trying to make something happen. BYU did a great job in the second half of backing us up with their kicking game. Take away the penalty on the interception TD return, and the blocked punt, and get Van Noy out of the game somehow, and it's a different outcome. The score was not indicative of the whole story last night.
My feeling is that we, as Aztec fans, have alot to look forward to. This game was a great game for some of our younger players to be involved in...Dingwell especially. This is a good Aztec team, that will be a little more seasoned next year. Give BYU credit, and especially Van Noy, and let's start looking forward.

Heh, this game reminded me of the 1998 Las Vegas Bowl without the damn wind. Good running game, good defense, crummy passing game.
And we lost too.
All in all, a great run for the program. It will continue to improve with the influx of quality recruits and time.
Oldie Out
