What shows that the Aztecs have improved greatly since years before is the fact we're complaining about losing a BOWL game, and not about having another 4-8 or 3-9 season. In my opinion, the team is the most balanced OVERALL (offensively and defensively) in quite awhile. Before it was about the "Dark Side" D, but the offensive wasn't so great. Or back in the Marshall years, it was 40-points-a-game, but the defense couldn't do squat. The main issue throughout this entire season (and today) was the lack of a good passing game. Escobar is great and Lockett and Ruffin are good receivers, but today were too many drops. So what needs fixing with the receiving? Faster/bigger receivers? The offensive line needs to give Dingwell more time? Dingwell isn't going to put up Lindley stats, but his mobility easily prevented more than a few sacks. A lot of young players played this season, and that experience returning next season gives me good vibes about next year. It's easy to blame the WRs for their dropsies, but if they were more involved in the game they wouldn't drop so many. They will get into sync with more passes thrown to them. I blame this on Ludwig's designed offense.

Also, I hope we don't stop playing BYU. SDSU should be good enough to not let any questionable referee call (or non-call) or whatever else prevent them from beating them. The Cougars flat out wanted this win more than the Aztecs and got it. Wanted it more? Guess they've wanted it more than the Aztecs 27 times to 5 now

A few years ago we had continual losing records, no bowls, no future and no hope. Two years ago, for the very first time in a long time, we had seven wins and went to a bowl game. Last year we had eight wins and went to a bowl game. We lost a lot of our talented Seniors. This year, a "rebuilding" year, we were picked to finish fifth in our conference. We ended up winning our conference and getting nine wins. This BYU game is what it is - we lost a game. They are 8-5, didn't win any kind of championship and are the best defense we ever faced - No. 2 in the country in fact. So yeah - they won. Games are won and lost - but next year looks to have even better potential than this year. Be proud - we did good. +1 Not quite there yet, but improving. The kids played hard all year, congrats to them on a great season.
