Before the season started, Rocky said our greatest strength and depth was at wr. Next was linebacker. What the hell happened with the wideouts? When your leading wr has a season total of 23 catches for 343 yards...wtf?

You guys are barley noticing this??
We're a run first team.
If we can't run it, we lose.

I believe the philosophy is to establish a physical running game that sets up play action and a vertical passing game. Unfortunately, the vertical passing game never came to fruition. Whatever happened to the projected big time play makers in Lockett and Ruffin along with "big time" USC transfer Butler? Each one was a huge disappointment. For me, Butler was probably the biggest disappointment of the three as he had so many drops on very catchable balls.

Play action passing with a strong running game is why the Pro Set is hard to stop and among NFL teams.

There were some drops, but he issue tonight was pass protection, True, once Riley went out I knew we were in trouble but I thought we had a backup. Why move Embernate to tackle?

Good question, in the second Hal the pass protection was non existent. BYU brought pressure from the middle on twists and it was game over.

As the OP said, the wide receivers were indeed a major disappointment.
Lockett was ineffective because Dingwell wasn't capable of playing to his forte, the vertical pass, Ruffin continued to have the dropsies, and Butler was as underwhelming as the Pitts kid was after he transferred in from USC a decade ago. Attention Ludwig: If you're back next year, give Larry Clark a shot, huh?

Ding had no time to make his progressions and throw.
Embernasty isn't a tackle, he's a guard.
Oldie Out

Butler was a bust. Now I see why he didno' get much playing time at USC.

You guys are barley noticing this?? We're a run first team. If we can't run it, we lose. If we can't run or catch it effectively, we will lose most of the games.
