That kid is no joke. Watched UNLV vs Northern Iowa last night and wow, he was impressive. 20 pts and 12 rebounds. He is pretty agile running to the hoop and hit a nice three in the first half. (yes is was only Northern Iowa and the guy covering him had his feet in cemet blocks, but man)
Who do you guys think will be assigned to play d when we play them.

You double him each time off the post and when he dribbles and rotate off of Moser, this is the problem UNLV will have with Moser coming back, he is a mediocre three point shooter and they will need more shooting. Also Anthony Marshall is due some serious regression from deep.

Also Anthony Marshall is due some serious regression from deep. The can counter this by moving Moser in closer (10-12 foot jumper) which he is very capable of making. They don't need Moser jacking 3's if we double Bennett. My opinion, put DeShawn on Bennett and hope he can force him to take tough contested shots or force him to another defender. Hopefully we can rebound as a team on missed shots to limit them to only 1 possesion. I'd rather have 5 guys crashing the boards instead of 3 or 4 and sending someone to fast break. We're gonna need to have all 5 on the glass since Moser is a good rebounder. I haven't watched Birch yet but you can expect him to board as well. Gonna be a nice chess match to see what happens.

All putting Moser in mid range does is crowd the spacing with Bennett and Birch. Plus we know based on last year that Moser likes to chuck threes.

I'm actually somewhat worried about Moser affecting chemistry when he's back. Birch/Bennett are a very effective tandem. Moser/Bennett/Birch have the potential to be a very scary. There are times where they double team Bennett and you wish Moser was there to bail him out. For as good as I expected Birch to be defensively, he had some sharp offensive moves too..Great baby-hook and back to basket game. Good FT shooting big-man too. Even though I like his intensity, the best part about having Moser back is it should bury Lopez on the bench.. Lopez has become the spark plug that initiatives scoring runs for the opposing team.

Have seen him twice and he is a fabulous player....and a Frosh. Averaging 19 pts/game and 7 rebounds that makes him one of the top 3 freshmen in the coountry. We will have our hands full with this guy. maybe Winston or JJ on this guy.

Marshall remains the key to UNLV's success and he seems to be getting better playing point.

Don't know. I'm going to let Fish worry about it and then watch the results. He seems to have a pretty good handle on how to dispatch of the Rubbles.

A big stud like that who can dominate inside and step out and hit the three?!?!? Reminds me of Chris Manker. ; )). Seriously. Yale him out of the game as much as poss and let others beat u. Let them shoot from the perimeter.

All putting Moser in mid range does is crowd the spacing with Bennett and Birch. Plus we know based on last year that Moser likes to chuck threes. True that it does crowd the middle but they can put Birch on the other side. I do hope Moser does chuck up a lot of 3's but IMO it would be better if he never went out that far. He does better mid range and closer. Also I'm sure they would want on the glass since he is a good offensive rebounder. How is Bennett's passing skills? Can he effectively pass out of a double team? And let's say we double of Birch, can he hit a jump shot? I'm hoping to watch more of their games so I can answer this myself so I'm hoping someone can fill me in time being. Thanks in advance if anyone does.

Thanks in advance if anyone does. Birch is an extremely good FT shooter so I assume he can hit an open-jumper but hasn't attempted one yet so I would be shocked if that's a big part of his game. Birch is best suited offensively in the post where he can utilize his hook-shot and draw contact to get to the line. Overall Bennett is a great passer, and runs the floor in transition as good as Moser..Routinely makes dead-on cross court passes to hit fast break points off his defensive rebound. Bennett's passing out of the double-team needs consistency, he was bad against UTEP and great against UNI, was great at kicking it out to the guards for an open look or back to Marshall to find the open man. Rarely ever turns it over. The biggest thing is Birch, Moser, and Bennett are all great on the offensive glass and second-chance buckets will be in a surplus with all of them on the court.

I've never thought that taking on 1&Done players is a good thing, but Bennett is unbelievable. Real deal, top 10 pick.

Jamaal needs to be the primary defender on Bennett No way. Same for O'Brien...it'd be a field day for him down low if that was the case. Johnson, size wise. Would be the best option. With Stephens and Spencer being 2a and 2b. However that still leaves the matchup against Birch who is longer than all 3.

Also not sure how manysaw last nights game, but heres a clip of my favorite stretch of Anthony Bennett yet.
A little coast to coast Lebron lookin play. A dirty Euro 2-step Knocking down a wide open 3. Then a dunk that was simple yet nasty.
Also shows a nice Khem Birch block and how great he is in help defense.
Starts at 2:24...to the end of the video.

Skylar spencer. Not too concerned with Bennett (have grades even come out yet?) We will see though come Arizona the status of our front court with the addition of Johnson. More concerned with letting a wannabe D2 school shoot 50% from 3 for a half and our lack of closing out/perimeter D. We have a half like that in conference we will lose. especially with guys like Marshall, snell, marks chucking it up.

As predicted the UNLV front line is one of the best. Bennett (NBA pick) Moser - Birch - will be a load to handle. size and athletic on both ends of the court.Plus they have reserves to spell them as needed. Since Shepard watched Bennett play as his team mate, he may give some clues on D. Would guess there will be a combo of Stephens, JJ'O, Spencer, Jamaal, Johnson, Shepard as needed . Not going to stop them . Try to neutralyze them or prevent them from getting the ball down low where they can post up. They are the real deal , each with their own skills. By the way we will get real test if we play Arizona - who also have talent and size on their front line. Keys for us be able to shoot well - not always threes and the boards. Some great games
