In a story dealing with Hoover High's desire to once again have lights for night football games (their lights were given to Patrick Henry many years ago following problems with gang fights) an old Aztec FB name was mentioned. Andy Trakas is an assistant principal at Hoover in charge of athletics. (The story doesn't use the term AD, by the way.)
Poor Andy has been the target of a lot of trash talk over the years which, in my totally un-humble view, is both unwarranted and ugly. Yes, I was there in 1990 when a FG against the Sugarcanes would have given SDSU's FB program a HUGE boost, including a possible bowl invitation that year. But that was long ago and it's time to stop fixating on dead issues.
I was pleased to hear that Andy is succeeding in his career.

I can't remember how many times I have suggested that we just give any Trakas trashing a rest. Enough is enough!

People forget he was one of the most accurate and top scoring kickers in Aztec History.
I haven't seen Andy around, but his parents restaurant is very good. Troys on Mission Gorge.

My Family and I used to go down there for Sunday Brunch on occasion. It was very good. I wonder if they still do that.

I agree that it's time to stop beating on him. He had some problems with pressure when the game was on the line, but it's not like he was a terrible place kicker. And I do have to say this - blaming a single player for anything is bogus. Yeah, he missed 3 FGs in the last 10 minutes or so of the $C game, but it wouldn't have mattered if Luggie's offense had punched it in the a TD. Seems to me the offense, as a whole, didn't manage to get the job done.
