But it wasn't quite that easy. During the second and third quarters, the Aggies were gaining 5-8 yards on first downs with regularity. That is disturbing.
Over all, of course, there were many things to encourage Aztec fans. Still, we were finishing off a sub-par team compared to a CSU (who is locked in a tough battle with Idaho as I write this), Utah, BYU, etc.
Seems to me that we are still 8-10 really good players short of being competitive in the MWC. As for the coaching, well, it seems to me that we have chosen a good staff . . . finally!
I certainly enjoyed the evening at the Q. Too bad that the place was like a tomb! Aren't there at least a few more fans curious enough about how the new H.C. is doing to attend the game?

I liked how the team was able to turn it up a notch when the game got tied up. I too was disturbed at how NMSU was able to get such big gains on first down with regularity. Part of that is the high risk and high reward defense that we play and part is that we are a few players short of being manned up at a level high enough to execute properly. Add in the idea that this is our first year doing this and we should see some positive things in the future.
Looked to me with all the really bad passes thrown by Lindley that his hand must still be bothering him.
All in all it was a fun night. The food at the tail gate was good. Mexican that tasted really good to me. I did not catch the name of who catered it. They had some different beers there too, but I just stuck to the light that I knew would be OK.
