Wow. That's a lot of freaking flying time guys. When I was "commuting" from Florence, KY, (CVG), to San Diego on weekends, it was 4hr+ each way. DFW is a 3hr+ flight from SLC. The closest "west" fellow member is 2hr+ assuming you can secure a non-stop. The success of the ECHL was its ability to secure a number of western region hockey teams that formed legitimate divisions. I am of the school of thought, if the BE fails to do this, the proposed current business model will definitely be a challenge. Wow. So instead of flying 4+ hours to CVG/LOU it'll be 5-6+ to Pennsylvania and 5+ to Tennessee. And that's just within their own "division". (At least its against currently sh*tty schools). If this is going to work, I'll reiterate, as others have on this thread, they need more western region schools. And therein lies the rub.

You need to stop this crap, every time there is something about the Big East you post some crap about how it is bad... Fly 2 hrs and 20 minutes to Denver then bus for 90 minutes to Laramie, Ft. Collins and Colorado Springs Fly 3hrs to Dallas, 3:20 to Houston and 5:30 to Memphis, Boise is the same... Is it perfect, no, but do you really think the players are affected by an additional hour of flight time, he'll at least no bus trip to Fresno.. Plus we get 10x the cash flow, more exposure and hopefully now in a position to have more one and done home games with teams like NMSU, Idaho, etc to fill out schedule leading to at least one less trip on average per year... Stop it!

Memphis is closer to San Diego than both of those airports in northern Kentucky. And we aren't going to Philly every year.

The biggest bonus to moving to the Big East is the National Exposure for the University. We will get much more awareness on the East Coast that will benefit our programs for recruiting and media mind share more than being in the PAC12. If we keep winning and putting a quality product on the field, the move to the Big East will leave 75% of the PAC12 in the dust. As a side benefit, we also have a much better chance to land in a Major Bowl in the Big East instead of being stuck in the PAC12 behind USC.

With regard to the distance the football team will travel to some games, it is not much farther than USD football travels and they are an FCS team and most certainly do not receive the money SDSU does. In fact, the more I look at the USD away schedule the more it looks like their travel is worse than ours will be next year. Also, as has been pointed out, flying to major cities is easier than flying and busing to the out of the way schools.

Still faster than Laramie! No one complained about West Point. I look forward to Temple. Just a couple hours away! Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

To be honest, they need to lock in to this TV contract now. Take the deal before another team leaves. In 2 to 4 years, Conn and Rutgers will be in the ACC and Louisville and Cincy will be in the Big 12. They aren't going anywhere. Those conferences aren't going to split the pie with teams that don't bring in more dollars. This.

Anything regarding the so called "zipper" divisions is speculative at this point.
