UNI is a tourney team this year. Pretty much bring back their whole roster, but it would be a major upset. Can't see it happening as of now.
This is a typical preseason up in the air write up though. Zero chances LBSU beats UNC. They lost way too much and UNC still has major talent even though they lost their starters. McAdoo is gonna rip teams apart this year. UCSB should run that conference this year until Aztecs go over.

Probably right about them both fighting for the Big West...and possibly beating UCSB outright. Ennis is probably the best returning player in that conference.. However.. competing with UCSB and beating UNC is completely 2 different things. I'd take Hairston, bullock, Strickland over any of their starters and comparing those teams recruiting classes isn't even a conversation. Last years LBSU team was full of studs. Veteran group. Zero chances.

#1 UNI is a tourney team this year. and #2 cannot both be true. sorry dude. Why is that? Say UNLV earned a #4 seed. UNI came in as #12. That's an upset isn't it?

UCSB will be lucky to finish in the top 3 of the conference. They lose their top 3 scorers which made up 60% of their scoring. Allan Williams will be good, Dunklin is a nice get and will contribute right away but they will struggle. LBSU is far and away the most talented team in the league with Keala King, James Ennis, Mike Caffey (who will put up similar numbers to Ware),Dan Jennings, Javion Watson, and Tony Freeland. Hawaii has some good bigs. If I were having to put together a top 10 list of conference it would go like this: 1. LBSU 2. Hawaii 3. Irvine 4. Fullerton 5. Santa Barbara 6. Cal Poly 7. Pacific 8. Davis 9. Northridge 10. Riverside

Yeah, after Bill stated that I did a quick run through on the gauchos and forgot how they lose Nunnally too. Oj and Nunnally were the team for the most part. Just stating that upset alert on them vs UNC seemed like a waste of space IMO.

Agreed, UNC should beat them, but look out for Caffey he is going to have a huge year.

The Beach has put together a couple solid seasons (47-17 over the last two years, but a .500 team the 2-3 preceding years - their track kind of reminds me of our own, just half a decade behind.). But they lost as much motor after last season as we did after after '10-'11. Has Monson built a program capable of perennial success that transcends individual line-ups? I guess the big Q for them is what Keala does with his second chance closer to home... With the added TV exposure we'll be bringing the conference on FSN - a 60% bump in coverage (from this year) throughout the most populous region west of the Mississippi and a TBD Teir 1 deal likely with ESPN - it should help other Big Lots schools continue to improve recruiting efforts and/or target quality bouncebacks. I don't see why Big Lots cannot become a multi-bid conference within the next 3-4 years.

Edis Dervisevic was one of Long Beach's few big men and he did a capable job in the paint. I dunno how good Dan Jennings and the transfers are nor when they will be eligible to play but I think Coach Monson will lead his team to a couple upset wins.
Mike Caffey learned a lot from playing alongside Casper Ware so there should not be too much of a dropoff, if any, at the point. He and King make up a talented backcourt.
Their schedule is a little easier travel-wise and this time they have UNC at home. I don't care who you are, you will feel the effects of losing 4 first round NBA picks.

I am not confident at all. another thing that bothers me is that we've had a number of three-star recruits the last few years and to date none of them have panned out. Garth and Hornbuckle were 3-star players who transferred from New Mexico and Colorado respectively. As for the others: - Will Brew had a solid freshman year in '08-'09 but did nothing after that. His brother Chris was a bench-warmer who only lasted a season. - John Green broke his foot again and has yet to play any meaningful games for the Gauchos. He was originally pegged as OJ's successor.
