I know what you guys are thinking, "Why do you keep supporting our coach when hes losing to mediocre teams?" But I do because there's something to be said about a persons character, when a coach blows off big money, and a big program to stay and help a program when they lose a coach that they admire. I love Rocky, and know there's something in him that hasn't sparkled yet, but when it does we will be going to our first BCS.
With this said, I always stated that I don't like Rocky splitting his time from being a Defensive coach and being a Head Coach. I am completely against that, because not many coaches do that, not to mention its very difficult to do both. I also, think he needs bigger size and more plays for our passing game. I don't see to many curl routs, and screen passes. Our offensive line needs to do better to protect the QB.
If we can do the things above then we will win out and possible take Nevada, but a record with 7-5, may get us into a bowl game, but we will need to find out how he will adjust his D and O. Its obvious there are flaws.
" Don't Count Your Chickens Before They Are Hatched," we lets be optimistic about our games and be supportive instead of calling out the firing of a coach before the season is over. Instead of doing this why don't we go to some of the home games in support of our teams. Hey, the announcers said the crowd helped Fresno get back in the game, because it gave them the extra push they need to make big plays. I think we will need this type of advantage come home games. I think we need to stop this coach chatter stuff or at least wait until the end of the season to evaluate our coach.

Don't need the rest of the season to evaluate. I already see the path Rocky has taken after 5 games. Seen it in to many a seasons. I still support the program and the players. Just not the coach. In this case there is no chickens to count. I don't like mediocrity and its time the football team followed he basketball team's success, hire a good D1 coach.

I wish your son nothing but the best, but, this is my Alma Mater and it existed before me and will exist after I have passed on - I cannot allow it to be taken back to where it was and where it is going by Rocky Long. The best thing for the ole lady Alma Mater is that Rocky is fired and fired quickly - there is no use or time in hopping things sparkle, in hoping that if everyone comes out and cheers for your kid that things will inexplicably and magically change. He must be let go, and he must be let go promptly to provide for the best future of San Diego State University.

I'm surprised at how much of a step back the program has taken.

I'm surprised at how much of a step back the program has taken. More like a collapse.

LOL! Too funny! Unlike several on this board I'm not so sure RL is the problem He's old school & I like that. Real concerned about some other coaches though as I think they are soft. For some reason I get the feeling that they were soft players back in their day as well. Not Rocky though.

He must be let go, and he must be let go promptly to provide for the best future of San Diego State University. Really, well progress takes time and I'll take 7-5 any day towards progress. I'm in a Frankenstein movie and you guys are bringing the pitchforks to the door step before one is created. Seriously, lets look at the our past seasons shall we. 2008: 2W:10L. Wins against UNLV and Idaho. Coach Chuck Long, result; bad season, and the team motto: Lets just play and get this over with ASAP. 2009: 4W:8L. Wins against New Mexico, New Mexico State, Colorado State, and Southern Utah. Coach Brady Hoke. 2010: 9W:4L. Wins against to many to list. But a win in a bowl was OP. 2011: 8W:5L. Close game, defense gave us the opportunity to win (Rocky), nevertheless a loss but it was an exciting game worthy of a win and I commended Rocky. Could be easily 9W:4L we blew a game that I will not mention. Dan Finn, leaves in February 2012 guess what, he was are best Offensive Line coach in a long time. Goes to Utah, and forces Rocky to replace a coach yet again.2012: 2W:3L could easily be 8W:4L, 7W:5L, 6W:6L, or 4W:8L by the season end. We don't yet know since in football anything is possible. One thing is for sure during the summer our coach had to replace a good Offensive Line coach (maybe the reason why we are struggling protecting our QB), not that our OL is bad but maybe because this person hasn't got adjusted to the scheme of things. We lost many players in the D line, and yet you guys are whining like sick puppies. Give a little credit where credit is due, because its still early and guys haven't notice how much progress we have made in the overall picture. What we need is not a new coach just more chemistry within the coaching staff. I expect 9W:4L after our 2nd bowl win after this season. [shadow=red,left,300] I expect a long letter of apology on this forum to Rocky Long and staff after this season. Deal?[/shadow]

Sorry, Mrs. L, but Rocky needs to go. SDSU simply cannot allow the program to regress back to where it was under CHUCK Long.
Letter of apology? Fresno threw the ball 56 times but we didn't sack the QB even once. If you know anything about football, you know that is literally shocking. Coaches are supposed to help their players improve. However, this team is REgressing.
And please don't come on here and say how great things are going after we beat a few of the worst teams in the country that are coming up. Unless those games are beatdowns, defeating them will show nothing more than that the schedule has been dumbed down so much that a team with this much talent can't help but win.

I'm sorry Mrs. Embernate, but Rocky is a terrible coach and is driving the team into the ground. The worst part is that the next coach is going to have to dig out of this hole of 245 pound defensive lineman. Hopefully the coach is hired promptly so he can go get a big juco noseman to push the pile if he runs an odd defense, or a couple of tackles if he runs an even.
