My butt cheeks got a little tighter. Loosen those cheeks up baby! We can't lose any ground today so I've loosened them a little.

Loosen those cheeks up baby! We can't lose any ground today so I've loosened them a little. It is time for panic - for the Cardinals. Since the Cardinals swept the Reds to tie them: 05-13 Cardinals 14-04 Reds The Cardinals are now 8 games behind the Reds.

Only a 3 game lead for the Pads right now, with a tough September schedule. Time to panic for the fans? No. But I'm a bit uneasy.

10-game homestand starting Friday. It'd be nice to win seven, but I would take six.

Now 8 in a row. I'm jumping up and down on the panic button. Luebke was terrible tonight. Bad time to experiment on a new pitcher.

Hell it's amazing they've been this "good" for this long. Look at that lineup and, let's be honest, look at that staff. Latos and Gonzalez are stars, but... I think they'll still probably hold on (well I guess it's 50-50 like everything else), but if not my main concern is Bill's bet, which I think he has already won. Speaking of Bill, where the hell are you Bill?

The Padres are great at making mediocre pitchers look great.

Luebke was terrible? A guy making his first career start and basically made 2 bad pitches? He's better than Correia at this point.

I truly have mixed emotions about this team. They are now playing not to lose and are becoming an embarrassment nationally. I will laugh if we end up missing out on the playoffs and finishing behind Sf, and Colorado and even LA. If we win the division with this group of AAA players in the field, ownership would be happy to maintain the team as is and keep payroll at rock bottom....Buddy Black has done an excellent job up until now IMO. Today, he was totally out-managed by Tracy and deserved to lose....A key error, passed ball along with poor managing decisions cost us another game....I thought Garland was aiming the ball and looked as though he was pitching scared....

good analogy. i really believe this team as a whole woke up and realized that individually they were simply not very good and were playing way above their heads. compare there talent with the Rockies and Giants and they simply are not as talented...smoke and mirrors are put away. only two legitimate stars on this team. Gonzalez and Bell. neither of them would even be here now if we didn't start out strong....ownership is still a joke IMO

He has the lowest OBA in baseball. I think that qualifies him as a star. A star in the rotation, a star in the bullpen and a star in the lineup. The rest are a mix of very good major league players like gregerson, garland, Adams, tejada and ludwick and adequate young players like venable Richards headley and frieri. This team is good. I don't know how you can look at our team and say it's smoke and mirrors especially when it's September and we've been in first place for 99.9% of the year. Also how can you call ownership a joke when in their first full year, despite awful attendance they went out and got ludwick and tejada??
