Without having time to reflect on the game and dissect the game. We are going to be ok... To many mistakes, but we are very young at nearly every position. If we cut down on half the mistakes today, we would have been in the game, on the road, against a decent Air Force team. I am sticking with my prediction of 5 wins this seasons (although with the loss at Idaho, I would not be shocked with 4). I think we win 7 next year and anything can happen in Brady Hokes third year. I am a little worried about two coaching spots.......OC and QB. We are demanding that Lindley play the pro set and he put up record numbers in the spread last year. QB coach. I don't want to get on Sipe to much, but he's never been a QB Coach at the college level. Lindley looked much more comfortable under Chuck Longs coaching (as a QB coach). He looks confused and not confident so far. I think Lindley will be fine in the long run. I can't wait for next weeks game. I see a victory in our future.

But that could be said about any new QB coach who had seen action as a QB. And the Tollner haters on here can bitch and squawk all they want, but Ted turned out to be a pretty good QB coach, and has the credentials to prove it. JaMarcus Russell is a work in progress right now, we'll see if Ted can develop him. I say yes. I think Brian can get it done, too.

I haven't given up on Sipe, but just worried about a couple of things. One big one is the lack of confidence Lindley is showing right now. That is a major change from last year.
I do want to say thought......Ryan Lindley is our QB and should start every game for the rest of his career here (unless injured).
As he learns this system, he will only get better. I believe in Ryan Lindley.

This all comes back to changing from the spread to a pro style offense. The players look like they are still thinking and not playing instinctively. Also, I think the Oline looks very bad. There seems to be no physical play. If you cannot run in Al's system, you cannot win. I think he is going to instill the toughness it takes to run the ball. Unfortuately, this is not going to happen overnight. I think RL will be fine. If you cannot run the ball you will lose. That and being -6 in TURNOVERS! That is an incrediable number. RL is learning the new system and he will get better. Look, football is pretty simple. It comes down to: 1. Running the Ball 2. Stopping the Run 3. Winning the turnover game 4. Having fewer penalties. If you do these things, you will win the game. If you don't do these things you lose. SDSU needs to start playing fundamental football. If they don't do that they will not win. When they do play good fundamental football they will win. I think Hoke gives us the best chance to play sound, fundamental football. That is encouraging.

Most people, if they saw the game or even listened to it, are going to say, "Oh, boy, here we go again; another roasting by the Flyboys and the Aztec beat goes on!" Perhaps we should try to take a more objective look at the game and its meaning. Was AFA better? You bet! Was it as much better as it has been most of the last 20 years? I don't think so.
Despite what the MTN color guy said, that last Aztec TD was important, if only for the morale of the team. Anyway, maintaining a high level of morale is decidedly NOT unimportant. But beyond that, we out-gained AFA and had more FDs. That's a lot better than the smack downs we have been getting much of the time in recent years.
We're not competitive yet, but perhaps the stage is closer to being set for a substantial Aztec turnaround than some thought possible. Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go. And as one UT writer said, this is the third "start-over" for Aztec football in just 8 years. That has to stop. Right now it's Brady Hoke or nobody.
