I remember when people were saying that gimmicky spread option offense of Urban Meyer would never work outside mid-major conferences and especially in the SEC.
How did that work out?
Nearly every school has a version of it or plays based on that offense.
Football is a game when its fans and coaches hate change with the exception of instant replay. People said the forward pass would never work back at its inception. How'd that work out? Back in the day, it was crazy considering a pass on 3rd and 3. Today, how many college teams pass as oppose to run in that situation? Some coaches in the 80s did some crazy things with their defense going with speed as opposed to size. Since 40 times were still hand-timed and done locally, they went to converting DBs and RBs into LBs and LBs into D linemen. That method was seen as crazy back then. Today, speed is a premium...a requirement. And of course how hardly any CFB expert thought Urban Meyer's offense would work in a major conference. Now we see parts of it everywhere.
So people will have issues with this idea of going for it on 4th all the time in certain situations.

Considering the reports of our punters I think Rocky should reverse his plan. Go for it before he gets to the 50, then punt when he gets across the 50 - those shanks will work great to pin the other team inside the 20.
