Let's not ignore the fact that the crowd goes crazy after a self alleyoop or anything else "not necessary" thus creating an even more intimidating home crowd.
People will clap when we score. People will cheer for a three point shot. People will get loud for a nice dunk. People will go absolutely crazy if Jamaal successfully throws it off the glass and jams it in.
I'd like to think that the adrenaline rush after such a play and the noise created thereafter are worth the "risk." Not to mention potential spots on SC Top 10 for national exposure.

I agree with both sides. It's a selfish, unsportsmanlike thing to do, but holy $#!+ did I want him to finish that through the legs dunk.

The flip side of the arugment... After he missed the between-the-legs dunk... he was on SportsCenter... and they basically called him a 'clown'. It's just not worth the risk. And if I was an opponent, I'd certainly be thinking about cutting his legs out the next time he drives the lane. You're just asking for retaliation by showing up your opponent that way.

I agree with everyone. I think Jamaal will find that confortable medium where he chooses the correct moments to pull off such plays, but he's not throwing that move out. Imagine a close game in a packed Viejas arena, and Jamaal goes off the backboard! Place would explode.
