Glenn Beck drew somewhere between 300,000 and 1,200,00 people to the National Mall and surrounding area. They left the area spotless. Does that mean folks indentify with Faith in God also respect their surroundings?

Oh and speaking of Beck, I sure was happy they didn't put the dogs on him and turn on the fire hoses. After all, he was "recapturing the Civil Rights Movement"! I did feel sorry for him that he has lost so many rights, like the rights to make Millions off his followers.

Does that mean folks indentify with Faith in God also respect their surroundings? The overwhelming majority of Church going Christians are very law abiding. Many of them that I know won't even drive above the speed limit because they do not what people to see them speeding with all of those Jesus stickers on their rear bumper. I consider it a form of mental illness. People who never speed must never be in a hurry. That means they have noting important to do within a limited time frame. Gosh, their lives must be boring!

The Beck 8-28 rally will stand as an outstanding example of decent people getting together to support a positive, life-affirming set of values. Those poor people on the Left have been left with very little to criticize. They can't even say the the participants were litter bugs!
Here's the thing that the Left and their fellow travelers don't, or perhaps simply refuse to understand. Glenn Beck, agree with him or not, really believes strongly in what he says. This is no Elmer Gantry. If one listens closely to the values he espouses, it's very hard to twist those values into something ugly and hateful.

He lied when he said he did not know that the 28th was the same day as MLK's speech. You actually buy that? I have no problem with the audience that attended the rally. However, because of the economy and the fear mongering fostered by Beck and others, they are easily manipulated and taking money from them is like taking candy from a baby. Beck is on a "mission from God". Now that he knows he can manipulate certain segments of the masses, expect him to take the cue from the founder of his religion, Joseph Smith. Beck's next moves are about power and manipulation. And...what's this bullsh** about unity? How can you say that the President has a "deep seated hatred of white people" ...and then have this rally that is "not about politics" and is about unity? The people that blindly follow this guy are sheep.

Well, we have now heard from the cynical wing of AztecMesa. Okay, you may be right. On the other hand, why do you assume that anyone in Beck's position must automatically by insincere and motivated by greed? If you want to say that about . . .oh, I don't know. . . let's say Michael Savage, I would probably agree with you. Still, one has to actually pay attention to what personalities such as Beck or Savage have to say in order to draw intelligent conclusions. I have listened to both extensively, and feel quite capable of drawing conclusions. My conclusions regarding Beck and Savage are as follows. Savage may possibly believe everything he says, but somehow I tend to doubt it. Contariwise, I feel that Beck is quite sincere. He is on a self-proclaimed crusade out of concern that this country is badly off track. Further conclusion; Savage almost always spouts pretty hateful language aimed at the targets of his monologues. Those targets are political Leftists, Muslims, and others. Beck, in contrast, though his criticisms get pretty strong, in no way emulates the hate speech of Savage. The one statement by Beck that contradicts that is the one in which he characterized Obama as anti-white. One cannot just ignore that one, but Beck himself has repudiated it. Savage, if you ever listen to him, is simply vicious and not once have I ever heard him take back such language. Sure, many on the Left take any criticism of Obama (or "progressives" as a group) as hate speech or pretty close to it. Such illogical conclusions can be dismissed out of hand. Perhaps those opposed to Beck (I almost typed "Beck haters." but quickly decided that such a term would be unfair) can cite some of Beck's statements or positions (other than the Obama=racist one) that qualify as examples either of hate or insincerity. Pot shots at Mormonism do not qualify. And could you please make sure your examples are those you actually heard him say rather than something you read. AzWm

AzWm William, Savage does not believe everything he says, I agree with you on this. Like all of them, Savage is an expert at manipulating his audience. Part of me actually likes Savage because of his quick wit, life experience and his educational background. Beck on the other hand I believe is unstable and has delusions of grandeur. Yes, I agree he believes whatever pops into his ADD head at a given moment. He is also an expert manipulator and uses the tried and true methods of the evangelists...such as crying on camera. If he did not have severe personality issues he probably wouldn't have become a drug and alcohol addict at 30 and "have no friends". So Beck goes from a political commentator to some kind of religious leader who "God is talking through" in a very short time . There are a lot of red flags with Beck..... I am not the only one who thinks he is a "false prophet"... seems the evangelical community (of which I am not a member) is having problems with him as well. I believe Beck is an extremely divisive force in this country... he is not a good dude like Billy Graham, or many others, were. This guy will go the way of Van Gogh and other tortured souls.

Is that what you guys want? - from any side of the aisle? He is a converted mormon - what student of religion of more specifically Christianity gives mormonism any stance? - how the F is that Christianity? We know that mormons don't believe in virgin birth, that the seat of god is on Kolob, that if we are super cool we get to own a planet and do the same type of Zeus-like-swan-rape that whoever got their hands on Mary did He is a carnival barker - he was a zoo keeper

It is getting lots of folks thinking about going back to the roots of their own religion. That was a huge turnout and it must have been mostly decent people.

Not exactly the bible toting, gun owning rednecks the left wing media likes to describe.

Budhists are super 'decent people' but I guess they don't have a talk show you will align with this guy. It is enough to denigrate oneself to these parties, but Elmer Gantries like this guy?

Seriously, this guy has called out Orsen Wells as his hero and around the same time Sinclair Lewis correctly pegged this type of character.
Shame on an America that has a sizable portion of the population that sees Glen Beck and Sarah Palin as leaders

Where is the dynamic leader for the Republicans? They have no strong leadership. That is easy for all to see. You know, when Adolph Hitler led the Beer House Putz, he was a far more dynamic person than any Republican in political office right now. To think, Hitler was a buffoon who did not even graduate from high school. (He was failing out when he developed a lung problem and dropped out of school. He later tried to take classes again, and just withdrew after a few months.) In spite of his serious lack of education, he inspired people and they looked up to him a simple foot soldier in WWI. Even generals looked up to him. Now, who do the Republican faithful look up to? A talking head, or a woman who does not even know her geography? ?? Come ON!

Beck and Palin will never amount to anything but lightening rods for the hateful left. Neither one will run for office. Palin is to valuable as a fund raiser and difference maker in others campaigns to waste her time running on her own again.

Joe, don't you think that in the face of what you say that the sorry state of the Dems going into this election spells doom for them. Right after this mid-term election the wheels will start to turn and a couple three national leaders will emerge among Conservatives and the country will unite behind them to varying degrees to combat Obama.
