My definition of "taking a hit":
Being in a league that is highly competitive and major basketball power, yet the department getting paid less than 7 figures in total athletic TV rights. Not having enough money to recruit out of state because of the escalating cost of non-resident tuition. Not having enough money to the point that our premiere OOC MMB home game is versus a middle of the range Pac-12 team or a great team from a league that nobody cares about. Not having any games broadcast on a major TV network and good teams never agreeing to play you at home because your TV partners treat you like $#!+. Being in a "plucky" conference that has geat RPI, great SOS, a conference schedule that is top flight, yet having a postseason record that is total dog$#!+.
That's taking a hit.
And for some teams in the MWC that think men's D1 basketball can bring home the bacon financially, it's going to be a hit that some may not recover from and it is a hit that SDSU would surely never be able to weather.

Out of the frying pan then, right. You'll leave the #5 MBB conference and move into the #25 conference that will pay even less for your MBB and have less televised games against teams that are in the bottom 1/4 of the RPI in gyms with 3,000 people in attendance. You'll be the # 7 or 8 priority for your TV partners and good teams won't want to play at your home because your RPI would kill theirs if they lost. All this and still no solution for a postseason record that is "total dog$#!+" as you say.
Ahhhh but maybe the football money would make it possible for MBB to survive. That's what it will be too, survival.
Stay positive! Wishing MAKES it happen!

It isn't the move to the Least that is the issue, it's what happened to the happened to the MBB program because of it. Like I said taking a hit or maybe taking 1 for the team/university. If you fans are OK with that then great. At this point in time it's all about waiting to see what the money will buy. At least maybe survival.

Very surprised that Sat game at UNLV isn't on CBS. Also, I can't image that the non-TV listed games will not somehow be on TV. SDSU will be nationally ranked so it seems like FS San Diego or someone locally will get them.

They can't though, CBS has to be willing to sell them and it seems like they'd rather just leave them dark than sell them to the competition.

If you aren't part of the solution then you are part of the problem. What are you going to do to help? It amazes me that people want to stay in the extremely watered down MWC. Check to see how those teams will be "surviving" over the next 5-10 years. Look at the big picture! If we stay in the MWC SDSU's athletic department will die a slow death. We will not be able to compete at the highest level of collegiate athletics. This move will at least give us a fighting chance to stay within reach of the elite conferences. Even if it doesn't work out... guess what, the MWC will still be there as a last resort. How do you not realize this? Support SDSU and all it's athletics. You seem to need some help cultivating a positive attitude toward what is best for SDSU long term. "A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results." - Wade Boggs If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it. - Mary Engelbreit Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. - Thomas Jefferson Positive thinking won't let you do anything but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will. - Zig Ziglar Go Aztecs!

Thanks for the lecture on the power of positive thinking.
I voice the opinion of many of the Aztec faithfull but they have been beaten down for the past 9 months. You'll hear from them again though. As for me next year can't come too soon and it is a good move for the FB program.

Look at all those games with no TV. f x x x . This. Conference. Maybe FoxSports San Diego will pick up the games that are not scheduled to be on TV maybe. it will give me more chances to not watch them since AT&T won't sign a freaking deal with Fox!!!!!!!!!

Out of the frying pan then, right. You'll leave the #5 MBB conference and move into the #25 conference that will pay even less for your MBB... Pay less? Really? The MWC's TV contract for football and basketball is terrible. The Aztecs will get a bunch of money for football and whatever the basketball contract is will be gravy. The big issue though is tier 3 rights. The MWC's tier 3 rights are owned by CBS while the Big West's tier 3 rights will go to the school. Any Aztec game, not nationally televised, will be owned by the Aztecs to sell to any local outlet. That alone may be worth more money than the Aztecs receive this year via the entire MWC contract. ...and have less televised games against teams that are in the bottom 1/4 of the RPI in gyms with 3,000 people in attendance. You'll be the # 7 or 8 priority for your TV partners and good teams won't want to play at your home because your RPI would kill theirs if they lost. All this and still no solution for a postseason record that is "total dog$#!+" as you say. The Aztecs record in the Big West will be very good. That makes the effect the Aztecs have on an opponents RPI more positive than it is now. 2/3 of the effect is your win/loss record. You seem to not understand that. Ahhhh but maybe the football money would make it possible for MBB to survive. That's what it will be too, survival. Stay positive! Wishing MAKES it happen! The Aztecs will thrive.

This isn't a conference game but I thought I put this here. USC is trying to push its season tickets and we are a marquee opponent in that ploy! Can't wait to beat them again! $180 for the cheapest plan? Please...

I have Cox and I have the sports package which includes NBCCS (NBC College Sports) and CBSCS (CBS College Sports), but I've never heard of "CBSSN." Is that "CBS Sports Network?" I'm not sure I have that channel - does anyone have it or know what channel it is? Thanks! CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) = Ch. 1321 NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) (Formally known as Versus) = Ch. 1065 or 1060 The channels listed are in HD and here is the reference I used: ww2.cox.com/wcm/en/residential/datasheet/sandiego/channellineup_sd.pdfAwesome thanks!

Stay positive! Wishing MAKES it happen! Stop stealing my copy you hack. It was so profound I couldn't help myself. It doesn't fit with the old statement about "wish in one hand, crap in the other and see which one fills up" though does it? Oh well, back to see Zig again I guess.
