That's pretty good. However, winning the 2001 Rose Bowl tops it. UDub accomplished that feat by using the biggest collection of scumbags of any university not named Miami. Perhaps ironically, the ultimate scumbag was a Mormon kid who turned down BYU for Washington, Jerramy Stevens.

The greatest quote ever priduced in college footbal came from a UDUB alumni. When Hugh McElhenny was asked what was the biggest change from UW to the 49ers,he replied,"The cut in pay"

City of San Diego greatest sports moments: None Hell, man, do you ever do research before posting nonsense? Among other things, SDSU has won numerous football championships over the years (there is more than just Division I, you know). As well, the Aztecs have won a national championship in basketball and another in baseball. (The former in 1941 and the latter in 1958). Also a NC in men's volleyball. Also impressive (to anyone who has a clue and a pulse) is the long list of great Aztec athletes who have gone on to play professional sports with distinction or to achieve fame in other fields. Even people in Seattle may possibly have heard of Tony Gwynn, Marshall Faulk, Fred Dryer, Graig Nettles, Brian Sipe, Art Linkletter, Bud Black, Eric Wynalda, Joe Gibbs, Carl Weathers, Marcelo Balboa, Michael Cage, Mark Grace, Doug Harvey, Kawhi Leonard, Kirk Morrison, and Steven Strasburg. And that's only a partial list. Not too bad for a sleepy little town where nothing ever happens. AzWm

AzWm I like your enthusiasm, but to say San Diego has NAIA championships in the 40's and 50's is kind of embarrassing. There have been many great players from the San Diego area, but none of our teams have won anything significant. I think we should have just let this one slide.

McElhenny was one of my dad's favorites along with Joe "The Jet" Perry and one other stud who played in the backfield with Y.A. Tittle. (I was barely alive at the time so never saw them but Dad talked a lot about those guys.)

Wow, I might as well pop off about the Seattle Storm and Seattle Sounders now too then. I mean Seattle does have a Stanley Cup Title and NBA Title. San Diego has -0 Super Bowl Wins/NFL Titles -0 NBA Titles -0 MLB Titles -0 Stanley Cup Titles -0 Recognized Div. 1 College Football/College Basketball National Titles Basically you are the worst major sports city in the United States. No titles in ANY major sport. End of story.
