ObamaCare just has to be about something other than health care. It delivers less to more people at a huge cost. This is about expanding government plain and simple. We had better figure out how to stop Obamacare by defunding or outright repeal by getting enough votes to over-ride a veto.

Remember, William, it was not about setting up a strong operating program. It was all about getting the door open for socialized medicine no matter how crappy the program. Now that they have the door open, they will amend the process. The overwhelming majority of the electorate are "Takers" who will need Socialized Medicine. Just in case people do not understand what is going on, this is the just recompense that the rich have to endure because they stratified the castes too much in America. Yes, I said Castes. We are a "Caste Society," but the lower castes have been impoverished to such a degree in the past ten years that we have only two castes, The Uber Rich and the Poor. The middle class is slowly dying in this country. Because the Rich got too greedy, the Poor will now dictate Socialism unless they are disenfranchised. The question you have to find an answer to is, "If you are the Uber Rich, how do you take away the vote in this democracy from the poor short of a bloody civil war and an ensuing dictatorship?"

Joe, I am sure you have noticed that the "uber rich," as you call them, always manage to do just fine. They have many ways to avoid or minimize taxes. And, of course, the poor pay few taxes.
It's the people in the middle, many of whom are struggling to start new businesses, who really get the shaft. And some of those new businesses deal with new ideas that will create a more wealthy society if left to flourish.
The truly rich (i.e., net worth in the hundreds of millions to billions of dollars) have theirs and are not particularly interested in whether the next Ebay or Apple Computer gets off the ground.

Greed is the religion of the Uber Rich. Give them the opportunity to make even more money on top of money and they will eagerly venture forth to go where no bum has gone before.

Typical military whore - you get DOD health care while proclaiming that nobody else deserves it. Damn, must have been fun spending your 20, never facing anything that came close to combat and then retiring at 38. It's amazing to me how much of whore you are. =Bob

I'm still trying to figure out how and why people with at least modest intelligence and who were acting in good faith could have created the monster that is ObamaCare. Will, the only person of "modest intelligence" on here is you. It's incredible how stupid your comments are. Dear God, how stupid are you? Do you not understand how much you are defending the pack of asshole insurance companies who will tell you to f x x x off if you ever get this or that disease that they don't care to cover? Tell ya what - as you get old and Erik gets to pay caring for you at 45 grand a year please come back here and continue to whine about heath care. Feel free to watch what you left Erik go down the tubes while he spends 6 grand a year for you spending time in a "home". In the meantime, my wife and her bother will be spending 1500 bucks a month as their mother dies from Alzheimers while your kids go bankrupt. You really are a fool. =Bob

You really are a fool. =Bob Actually, the insurance companies have been bought off by Obama. They seem to have been quite happy to have become, in effect, publicly regulated (i.e, government controlled) utilities. I'd like to see you try to defend ObamaCare. That means you would have to explain why setting up about 150 new boards and committees with power to control health care is a good idea. That means defending the fact that by 2014 the government will tell you to pick from four plans it has designed and screw you if you would like a plan with features other than those contained in said plans. It means defending the way ObamaCare was created, with its Florida Flim Flam, Cornhusker Kickback, closed door sessions instead of C-Span covered meetings allowing every American to see how the bill was crafted. That means defending . . . oh, I could go on and on, but you would rather shed crocodile tears over how I will manage to get by when I am old (which I pretty much am now! . The fact is that health care was never the "there's no time to lose we have to try something . . . anything" crisis that the Democrats claimed it was. And there were and are many good ideas for improving the health care system, ideas not dependent on a virtual government takeover, that the Democrats were not interested in . . . clearly some because they would offend one or another of the Dems' favorite constituents, such as the trial lawyers. ObamaCare is the open sore that just will not heal. What is so tragic is that health care reform could have been done much better with far less government intrusion into the lives of the average citizen, and at far less cost to the taxpayers. AzWm

There were MANY good options that would have made for a better health care solution, but the Democrats wanted none of them (as they were beholden to the trial lawyers, among others).
Tort reform combined with the ability to cross state lines to purchase plans (true competition) were two desperately needed reforms that were summarily rejected for no reason whatsoever other than to appease the Democrats' bosses (their campaign contributors).

The ultimate hypocrisy. A 'conservative' demanding that government step in and stifle the free enterprise system by regulating the activities of a class of entrepreneur. That said, I agree that some method of regulation should be imposed. True victims should NOT be bared from their legal remedies, however, lawyers should be penalized for filing bogus or 'slap' lawsuits. I can say this stuff because I'm a 'socialist liberal' who believes that one of the purposes of government is to look after the 'little guy'.

The ultimate hypocrisy. A 'conservative' demanding that government step in and stifle the free enterprise system by regulating the activities of a class of entrepreneur. EVERY type of business is regulated. This particular group, however, controls those who write the regulations. That would seem to be a recipe for disaster. Wait, the disaster hit a decade or so ago. And the trial attorneys have still been able to keep the Democrats from allowing desperately needed tort reform. I would also say that there should be caps for, "Pain and suffering." No one needs 100 million dollars for, "Pain and suffering." Those awards only get passed on to you and me in the form of higher health care premiums (passed on to the health care providers in the form of higher malpractice insurance premiums). That type of court award only snowballs in the form of higher health care costs. And why the hell can't we buy health insurance under plans for other states? That lack of choice/competition is also keeping premiums higher. What Obamacare did was to continue the problems and just force the taxpayer to pay for it. There was no real, "Reform," in that supposed Health Care Reform package.
