What happened to Pumphrey being the running back in this class? Regardless of what ASR is reporting I gotta believe Stamps is destined for the defensive side of the ball. Of course, that's until Pumphrey actually commits. I'm hoping we get 2 RBs signed, the speedster Pumphrey and Porter from Louisiana.

Porter would be a good get. He plays on a really good team and I always like guys who are used to competing at the highest level. Maybe he could be another MF?

Take as many as you can get and move them around like TCU. Hell, Stamps probably has more upside on the defensive side of the ball anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if he wound up playing D.

Augustin Gonzalez's article of this morning says Stamps was recruited to play running back and I have a difficult time thinking he will play elsewhere.
The film shows the kid to be an absolute load. George Jones redux in my view. You don't move somebody like that to defense unless you have a Ronnie Hillman as your tailback and no offense meant to Adam Muema, but he's not Ronnie Hillman.

You never know who's going to blow out a knee and I think this kid may be the best recruit of the entire class this year. And his attitude seems great.

And his attitude seems great. Good point. So I'll rephrase a bit. George Jones redux PHYSICALLY.

Some of these Rb.s are going to end up at safety.Howard is also a big back and a good one. WE are going to be in deep crap in the Big East in 2013 unless we come up with a stud at QB. The talent level at Cincinatti,Louisville, UCF, USF, and Rutgers is much deeper than ours. I suspect we wil be lucky to break even the first year. It will take a couple more classes to do it. If Katz starts then we have new QB in 2013 three new interior lineman.

I like him a ton! In the video he shows very good balance, which is why he doesn't go down after first contact. That running style (and gold HS helmet) reminds me of Wayne Pittman running over guys at Mira Mesa HS.

sandiegostate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1384897Great story, great kid. Can't wait to see him suit up in the red and black. He will be playing RB, he said he turned down other offers because he wants to play RB, not defense. Coaches told him he might get touches his first year too.

Between Dakota and Stamps this class has a couple very talented high character guys. I like the way this class is shaping up. These two will lead the way.

he said he turned down other offers because he wants to play RB, not defense. They're stupid. As I said before, you don't relegate a kid with those kinds of skills to defense. Which begs the question. With the kind of talent we're going to have at tailback, would anybody consider operating out of an "I" sometimes?

We offset I already, 13's skill set didn't translate to being an "I" back but this kid's skills definitely do. I wouldnt be surprised to see some more I sprinkled in from here on out.

Damn you guys and your technical stuff. What I meant was a straight "I" like USC used to do with Orenthal and his less criminal progeny like Charles White and Marcus Allen. Pound the ball at our opponents with Stamps and Alex Howard while mixing in Brandon Wright and Chase Price for a change of pace. Keep throwing fresh legs in there and just wear out opposing defenses until by the fourth quarter what had been short gains turn into long TD runs.

And to run that Offense you better have a superb OL.
