Rivals article on the Robinson Twins. They are a package deal and want to play both football and basketball. Tyrell Robinson said he and his brother have at least 30 offers and that they have "locked down" the entire West Coast. footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1366569 Oklahoma has shown continued interest in them and San Diego State has been involved the longest since Tyrell Robinson said he got an offer from the Aztecs his freshman year. If the brothers decide to stay home, San Diego State could be the dark horse.
"I have a lot of favorites so I haven't really trimmed it down to like five or 10 schools yet but I'm trying to. I'm getting through high school first and then we'll probably make the decision, but we have another year left to figure it out. ? We really like the whole West Coast. There really are a lot of schools."

This could be what we have been waiting for, if they decide to stay home it could start a snow ball affect of the elite players in the county staying home.

Very few people are disciplined enough to play two sports in college. College is not high school.

The basketball team has shown more than enough to attract them to stay home, I'm sure. It's all about how football performs. I'd like to think that if SDSU beats the Huskies, then the Robinson twins are more likely to consider staying home. To attract more talented recruits, SDSU needs to show they can beat the BCS schools, and beating Wazzu last year was a good start, but it needs to be done continuously.

I'd look towards their current coach...

I don't believe so either but would love to be wrong. They won't be coming to State.

For what its worth, the twins are pretty good friends with Winston Shepard through the AAU circuit. Every little bit helps.

There was a time when "San Diego State" would not even be in the conversation: out before anyone else was in. It is refreshing to be in the converstion and to be at least a "Darkhorse". This would be a major get for both teams.

Ronald Curry, Julius Peppers, & Jesse Holley all played football and basketball at UNC. It would take them a while to get their basketball touch back and get in to sync with the other players on the court. I'm sure 80% of basketball ability from the twins at the start of the hoops season is better than 100% from most year-round players. Curious as to what positions these two would play on the football field. One is listed as a defensive end and linebacker. I think he might have to bulk up to play that in college. I wonder if one could get a football scholarship and the other a basketball scholarship thereby minimizing the scholarships used by each program.

Ever since Will Robinson left SDSU, we haven't had the fun of, "Danger Will Robinson, Danger." It's only part of life that the Robinsons keep their hamstrings in San Diego and become Aztecs for Life, Baby!
"Danger Will Robinson Danger"!

If playing football is a requirement, then I'd say pass. Peppers and Curry were Bo Jackson-like in talent, which I'm guessing the Robinson Twins are not in that league (if I am wrong, pleas correct me).
I'd much rather have two players that are about the same from a basketball standpoint that are focus on hoops.
Of course, if they come to SDSU on a football scholorship, does that mean we would be able to suit up 15 scholorship players in basketball?

They would both be like walk ons in basketball so huge advantage there for whoever get the 2. Tyree would play right away I would put his talent level similar (maybe slightly better) than Norman Powell who is at UCLA, Tyrees a great shooter. When it comes to football Tyrell would surely be SDSU's best recruit if he came here he maybe the best pass rusher on the west coast.

these kids are the real f'n deal and would make an impact and excel in both sports. if any of you follow the high school sports scene in sd you would know that they lead their basketball team to the state finals in only their freshman year. crazy imagining all of the talent in the socal basketball scene. san diego is often overlooked as far as talent wise when it comes to football and basketball because none of the studs ever stay home. this would be a huge get for state and i'm sure might entice other local recruits to stay home as well.

Playing two sports in D1 would be like working a 70 hour work week and trying to take a full load of classes. Good luck to them!

Sent from my DROID RAZR using ProBoards That seems like a big disadvantage to the hoops squad, especially if they are taking two roster spots.

Generally, they won't start playing hoops until football season is over, joining later in the OOC. Sent from my DROID RAZR using ProBoards That seems like a big disadvantage to the hoops squad, especially if they are taking two roster spots. That's why they almost always are on football scholarships, so the hoops team still has its full 13 scholarship players. The 2-sport players then are essentially equivalent to walk-ons for basketball. No disadvantage at all.
