Did Noel switch from 2012 to 2013 then back to 2012. Do like the idea of Shepard calling his former team mate to see if he would like to take a trip over to San Diego -even bring Bennett's mother for final approval.

Just curious what we're allowed to do now...with the National Letter of Intent period ending on May 16th, does that mean that any HS player that wants to play with us next year HAS to sign by then? Would that deadline not apply to someone like Pelle? What about transfers...would those with special exemptions have to commit by then to play next season?

Damn, the Padres are in Philly right now! If Pelle is still out that way, perhaps he can still throw out the first pitch tonight? ;D

I believe the May 16th deadline is just for a true Letter of Intent. A kid like Pelle could still join the team any time after via financial aid agreement and of course pending any NCAA clearinghouse issues. Same with transfers, we could take one in the summer and it would be a similar financial aid agreement. Didn't Kevin Young sign a financial aid schollie?

A scholarship binds you to the school you sign with. Financial aid is just a hand shake agreement and you can leave before you enroll at a school like Kevin.

Curious, how does a financial aid agreement differ from a scholarship? A scholarship binds you to the school you sign with. Financial aid is just a hand shake agreement and you can leave before you enroll at a school like Kevin. But once the student is enrolled, the "aid" is not in addition to the scholarship allotment? And if not, how does this help a school in recruiting? Especially if the total of scholarships and aid still have to equal X.
