No kidding. Bosco, among others, has been pretty good lately and technically not LA area but Mater Dei churns out D1 talet like crazy. As usual, you guys are correct, of course. Still, Maranatha doesn't exactly play at a level of Mater Dei in Santa Ana, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame near my house or Oaks Christian in Agoura Hills. Those private faith-based schools all play against a measurably higher level of competition. Might be good for us, though. Kids who put up the kind of numbers Elffers has against that level of competition aren't going to seriously consider SDSU. Last guy I can think of who did was Billy Blanton, who prepped at Mater Dei, Santa Ana.

i grew in arcadia which is just a few miles from Maranatha high...definitely wouldnt think a kid could come from there...i would think our JV squad would kill their varsity back 10 years ago. VERY small school Yup. Arcadia is a respected football team in the area. I'm sure Arcadia would go undefeated against all the privates in Pasadena; Maranatha, Polytechnical and La Salle Usually sends 1+ guys to DI/yr.

I hate Mater Die. As far as LA privates, you forgot to mention Crespi, St. Bonnies and Oaks Christian although they do have a tendancy to duck top teams. OC has better private schools: Mater Die, its recent daddy, Servite, Orange Lutheran and Santa Marijuana. Back to the QB. As far as lower division CIF Southern Section players, El Toro's Conner Manning is a lot better. He crushed Matt Barkley's OC passing record. Conner is playing in the Pac 5 next year as ET moves up divisions so he will be going against the best of the best in So Cal next season. Last year he was First Team All California D2 QB and OC offensive Player of the Year throwing for more than 4,219 (650 more than Barkley). yards, 41 TDs and only 8 INTs. El Toro also had a 1,000 yard rusher so it's not like his offense was one-dimensional. Stoner, smoke better $#!+. Only Crespi is in L.A. City/County limits. None of those other schools are in L.A. City or County. They are Ventura County schools That's all LA to me.
