I remember having to go to a service of choice while in Boot Camp but nothing more. I don't really see a big deal unless you are an ACLU type trouble maker looking for some big bruhaha over very little. It is wrong, of course, but of little consequence.

Ok, but your experience was a long time ago. Looks like things are different now.

Lots of links to right wing nutcase websites on this board. Or are you saying that they made this up and it is all lies? I mean they are left wing sites.

Since I was A-Religious, I had trouble making up my mind which service I was going to attend. I asked my Radioman First Class (Red Stripes on his sleeve) company commander if there were any Zoroastrian services, and he a Southern Boy, born and raised in Mississippi and addicted to Southern Baptist teachings (who was on a picket ship off of Okinawa when it was hit by a kamikazi) looked at me as if I was the Devil himself and said, "Hell, NO!" To this day I bet you he never learned what a Zoroastrian was. He just knew instinctively that it was "of the devil," just like his behavior in foreign ports that earned him those red stripes.

Where do you come up with this stuff? I mean Zoroastrian is so under the radar that I had to look it up. I was laughing with relief when I found that it was real and not the worship of Zoro or something as bizarre as that. Now you should also explain the significance of red vs gold hashmarks.

Should have asked for Wicca. ;D

We always hear how "wing-nut" websites are not credible. I don't see why "moonbat" websites ought to be considered any more credible. I haven't read anything about the issue in the SF Chronicle, and they lean more "moonbat" than "wing-nut". True or not, it certainly isn't official policy, and if anyone in authority actually did something like that they would be slapped pretty hard. It's probably career ending. (see M.A. Arnheiter and the USS Vance)
