On this day where we have such huge interest in what is going on in the MWC, I don't expect much comment for a day or two. Unreal that we had over 90 folks on the main part of the board when I checked a while ago. At any rate here is what one fellow thinks and has to say about Obama and his "smarts". xrl.us/bhwkbv

Here is all you need to know. With Republicans trying to destroy the economy to the best of their ability, Obama has been growing the Civilian Labor Force. Notice how the plunge was stayed about a year into Obama's term, and now for the past half year we are seeing tremendous growth in the Labor Force. All those housewives are going back to work. Mine stayed home for thirty years.

Mine stayed home for thirty years. Nice try Joe, but with stated unemployment holding around 9.6% or so and real unemployment at about 17%, even a new born liberal should be able to see that growth in the size of the labor pool supplemented with illegals does not equate to job growth in real terms.

Win, you so silly. If you look very carefully it looks like three million people have been added to the LABOR FORCE. Meanwhile Obama has managed to get unemployment under 9.6%. That means that the same number of people who have been added to the labor force have found jobs.
Obama is a miracle worker. Praise Obama from whom all blessings flow.
Oh, it is not new born liberal. It is Born Again Liberal, as in Born Again Christian. It is a miraculous transformance or should I say transfiguration?

It is Born Again Liberal, as in Born Again Christian. It is a miraculous transformance or should I say transfiguration? I think I get it. If we deport all illegals and "off" defectives, we could get the unemployment rate down to a liveable 5% or so. Is that not about what normal transistory unemployment amounts to? Since Obama can not get the rate down by creating jobs, he is about to try some sort of reverse supply side economic move to constrict the available workers. Just how fleshed out is the plan? I sure hope that we are being selective. We must "off" or deport workers in union manufacturing jobs since they are now offshore. I think I am getting the hang of your kind of thinking.

First of all a side comment: Take anything that "The New Aztec Joe" says about politics with a large dose of salt!
Now back to the thread topic. Barack Obama is not stupid, but he is also not an intellect in the class of a Winston Churchill, Woodrow Wilson, William F. Buckley, or Christopher Hitchens (to name just a few certified intellectuals who could hold a serious conversation without resorting to notes).
The gaps in Obama's knowledge are both revealing and troubling. Saying "corpsemen" instead of [cormen] may not seem like much, but millions of Americans without a fine education would not have made the same mistake. And just yesterday I heard Obama make the statement that the U.S. has one of the highest number of Muslims of the world's countries. In fact, the U.S. barely makes the top FIFTY countries in number of Muslims. My god, this man is the POTUS and he thinks the U.S. has one of the world's largest number of Muslims! On how many other critical issues is Obama handicapped by ignorance?
Obama is certainly smart, but he is, as some have said, not as well educated as his supporters think. Not by a long shot. Perhaps, as some have also said, he just isn't very curious. Maybe that explains why he came into office with such naive beliefs about so many critical issues.
What is needed in the office of the presidency is a person who is smart, well educated, and who has evidence of a variety of critical experiences and accomplishments on his or her resume. By that standard, Obama was clearly a poor choice. Despite his shortcomings, however, as a candidate he was very, very lucky. (Keep in mind that Clinton pretty much cleaned his clock in the late primaries; perhaps by then lots of people were finally starting to ask questions about the man.)
Ultimately, judgment is more important than pure intellect. History is replete with examples of very smart people who have made incredibly bad decisions.
We are and will pay the price for electing such a flawed and inexperienced man to lead us. (The fact that he leads a party filled with politicians who have learned nothing about economics or foreign relations since about 1930 also hurts.) It's one thing for him to win in 2008, a year of endless disasters for the Republicans. It will say something very troubling about the American electorate if he wins in 2012. Right now lots of people are calling Obama a one term president. We shall see. In order for that to happen, the GOP must nominate a credible candidate (Palin would be a disaster) and stay away from the divisive issues such as repealing the 14Th amendment.
I call the odds for a GOP win in '12 a toss-up at best.
