Don't know. I thought it was an interesting article, and emailed it to my wife's bro.
He is a Big ND fan, and I know he would like it knowing that Wellman learned under a ND coach.
You can't ask for any training better than that, can you?

Love it. My question for you weight guys is how much can one off season make? I mean.. I know 2 or 3 seasons can make you really strong.. but is it realistic to expect big changes in just one year? I'm thinking maybe. These are young kids who are growing. One good year of working out might do wonders. At least I'd like to think so.

Sure, that's what makes it easy to put on weight & muscle because of the continued growth. Some guys growth comes on later, and they get big fast!

In eight months an 18-22 year old kid can gain tremendous strength and muscle if EVERYTHING he does is perfect. Perfect training. Perfect diet. Perfect rest. Perfect supplimentation. At that age testosterone levels are the highest they will EVER be. Growth hormone levels are at their peak. It would not be out of the question for someone that age to gain 15-25 lbs of lean body mass in eight months given they were not training/eating/resting/supplimenting properly in the past. However, at a certain point those gains will be much harder to come by as the body adapts so do not expect similar improvements next year.

Players say the tempo, discipline and philosophy of the weight-training program is far more intense than that of the previous coaching staff.
Great work Coach Wellman! Getting excited!

Partially true- (actually conservative) based upon height and build double that figure-san steroids.

Having had the opportunity to observe a few workouts, I will say that this is a very accurate article.

I guess UT Lite couldn't find enough space to print the whole article. Nice job (again) UT.

Players say the tempo, discipline and philosophy of the weight-training program is far more intense than that of the previous coaching staff. Every year there's a story about how the previous coaching staff sucked when it came to motivation for off-season workouts, weight training, discipline, etc., etc., and about how things are completely different going into the upcoming season. To me, this stuff is mildly amusing, but has no real tangible value. The players might be working out harder, they might not. They might be more buff, they might not. We'll find out when the season starts. The only thing that really matters is wins and losses.

I guess UT Lite couldn't find enough space to print the whole article. Nice job (again) UT. Looked like they re-ran yesterday's D-6. There was no swimming article on D-1 today. Nice job on the "new and improved" U-T!
