So yesterday and today while listening to 1360 I heard some of the usual degradation of our university. Other than eventually turning off the radio I decided to look into the schedules of other universities-which as many of you know always have a Nichols St. type of team. But instead of hyping up the sure win, the peeps on the radio decided to talk about how un-entertaining the game would be and how they couldn't give away tickets if they tried. Granted, I do not expect the local media to coddle the football team-they deserve obvious criticism to a point. However, what these guys fail to realize is that by degrading the school's opponents and talking about how they can't even give tickets away they add further to the apathy; we do not need any help in the apathy department. You know considering the fact that Rivals ranked our receivers 11th, our tight end has been put on the watch list for the Mackey award; there really are some things to get upbeat about. I'm not asking for kool-aid, lying in wait Nat'l champs hype but how about a little help in not making it worse. Hey if the Aztecs start off 3-1; nobody in San Diego is going to care how we got there, no one is going to care how we got bowl eligible but people are going to go. Why? Because SD is a fair weather sports town-closet SDSU fans will come out of the woodwork, the local thugs will be wearing the gear and everyone will be honky dory-but these same people on the radio and in the public will be saying that they knew it all along. The link below lists all the FBS schools playing FCS teams-quite a list. www.ncaa.com/blog/2009d1football/2010/07/2010-fcs-vs-fbs-schedule.html

Every FBS school has played a FCS school except for USC, UCLA and Notre Dame. Not every year, but at least once, and most seem to schedule one every year. Is SDSU vs. Nicholls St. any different than Georgia State @ Alabama or South Dakota State @ Nebraska? (are the 'Huskers dodging the real SDSU?)

I might hate USC, but I at least respect their scheduling. They're one of the few major teams that play meaningful OOC games. On the other hand you have teams like Florida that play the likes of Citadel, Charleston Southern, FIU, etc, and then get into national championship games because they play in the SEC.

They all look at us negatively. Don't let the facts get in the way of negativity.
Most of all the big schools are ranked higher then we are.
So why only pick on us?

Here comes the kool aid intoxication that starts becoming a problem with me every year... Man we can truly become successful with a few seasons, the fair whether fans don't care so long as we win. Maybe we are the next Miami lying in wait. Perhaps Utah leaving and BYU possibly leaving is a blessing where SDSU, Boise St and TCU are the big 3 that get the exposure and we get to laugh at all the critics.
