DeAndre Daniels opens it up ESPNU 100 small forward DeAndre Daniels has decided to re-open his recruitment and is no longer committed to Texas, his AAU coach Dinos Trigonis confirmed to ESPN.com on Monday.
Daniels had committed to the Longhorns in July of 2009 over Kentucky, UNLV and USC, among others. His recruitment is now "wide open", according to Trigonis.
The 6-foot-8 Daniels is also expected to enroll at a prep school this season as he has exhausted his eligibility in California. IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) and South Kent Prep (South Kent, Conn.) are the reported frontrunners.
I don't think we have a slot for him? We don't need to see him at UNLV do we??

We could use a 6-8 forward in the next recruiting class.

Can someone explain what prep schools are? I get the feeling that they offer edcation past high school but below the college level. If that is so, what is the attitude of the NCAA with respecft to prep schools?

AzWm It is akin to greyshirting in that your clock doesn't start; e.g J Franklin went to prep school and still has 5 to play 4. And lots use it to get their academic house in order.

Daniels is a stud, but I don't think he is/was ever considering SDSU? I'm surprised UNLV is on his list (although this list will probably change a bit over the next year if he dominates in prep school).
I hope Fisher is already talking to these local SF's for 2012 ... Shrigley 6'5 (la costa cyn), xavier johnson 6'6 (mater dei), Nick Stover 6'6 (winward), ryan wright 6'5 (palmdale)

Just to let you know, Daniels from scout confirmed for me that he is going to IMG.
Actually, lets change that he just fired me a note saying the family is going to put out and official list in the next week or so. Hey says IMG is the front runner.
However St. John's, and Kentucky are on the list as well as UCLA and Oklahoma

Um, one of the largest athlete and celebrity talent agencies in the world. www.imgworld.com/home/default.sps

However, to my knowledge (and I could be wrong) IMG has not produced a big time basketball talent. Tons of tennis.

I would hope he would go to UNLV (over other schools - including UCLA) since that will strengthen the conf. UNLV going to the NCAA Tourn every year is a good thing.

If you look across the conference many of the teams have very high rated recruits for 2011 'considering'. CSU, UNLV, NM, and SDSU all have a few ESPN top 100 players on their radar. I would think next year the conference will finally fall back a bit after losing guys like Fredette/Emery, Willis, Thomas/White/Gay, etc. but it should fall very far.

we know we are losing at least 4 players from this years squad maybe 5 or 6, so this would be the time to line up that early tour in another country summer of 2011 and a major tournament in Hawaii in December to help land some of the major recruits and even keep KL
