But, win, Socialism is exactly what we are competing against, and we are constantly losing ground. Something is seriously wrong with OUR system and we need to fix it. Well, in that case, I suggest that I and a few of my like minded friends become the head MF bureaucrats in charge and the rest of you are to live within the means that we decide is good for you. And when your pay and benefits equal that of our our 3rd world brethren, we can then compete with those socialist governments participating in state sponsored capitalism using ridiculously cheap and exploited labor. Or perhaps we can stay a capitalist nation and continue benefiting from the standard of living it allows, fire a few old and hire some new Government bureaucrats that can actually negotiate equitable international trade deals (and refuse to give away the store to the socialist governments that subsidize their exports at our expense), elect a few representatives that will actually usher in US energy independence (as opposed to rat holing billions into the Department of Energy and hoping for pixie dust like solutions) and elect some representatives that will halt the undermining of our economy with continued borrowing from and the paying of interest to foreign governments. Well, on second thought, the first solution sounds much easier. Ergo - Obama has a following..... We just need to apply Sharia Law to all financial actions in this country with the appropriate beheading for any misdeed. |

China will have our cake and eat it too. I do business with China and I also have some Chinese woman working for me here in the USA. These people are like machines, it is in their culture and DNA. In 8 years that I have had these Chinese woman working for me not once have they called in sick, one lady was in such bad health and continued to work so hard that she had a stroke on the job. Outside on a 3 week vacation each year that they take to go visit their families in China these people work, everyday. We keep hearing about hard working American's and how we are the hardest workers in the World, sorry man that is just a bunch of crap, the workers in the USA are LAZY.
I can contact some of the factories I work with in China 24 hours a day 7 days a week and have a response to my inquiry within minutes. I tried giving my business to US based businesses but I literally had to beg them to even talk to me. Now I pay half the cost and have half the head ache.
Sorry guys, the problem with the USA is that the world is now hyper competitive and we are stuck thinking this is still the Cold War Era. During teh cold war we were not competing against 2 billion communists who had basically closed up shop. Now we have 2 billion communists in Asia, Russia and the eastern block to compete with and they want what we have which is a comfortable lifestyle and a future for their kids and they will work themselves and pollute their environment to get it.
Sorry all you dumb Democrats and stupid Republicans and Tea Baggers, while you guys fight each other and tear this country apart, the rest of the world works hard and saves their money with the goal of having what you've got but you guys are just to stupid to see it.

I think that was pretty much the point of my original post. China will not however, nor will the rest of the World, get away with the rate of pollution and resource exploitation that is occurring now. The World takes the equivalent of the weight of every man, woman and child in China in seafood out of the World's seas every year. This is not sustainable and dependence on aqua culture (separate discussion) cannot override the importance of wild stocks. Chinese culture is much more homogeneous than ours and their work ethic is unbeatable.... however their Achilles heal is almost total lack of concern about future generations and the near total destruction of the natural World that they can access. The US is leap years ahead of China in creating a system that preserves and protects natural resources (and humans) for the long run. Best example, the fishing industry in Alaska... both commercial and sport. I would not eat any food item that comes from China...their air, water and land has become mostly toxic.

When it comes to work ethic, the Chinese are most impressive. The University of California at Berkeley has to restrict its enrollment on the basis of Race. If they did not, about 90 percent would be Chinese and almost ten percent Jewish. You can go all around California and look at the Valedictorians from the high school classes. You see names like Wu, Chu, Wong or Goldsmith, Mutterpurl, Steinmetz. You never see a Smith or Jones. These Asians from East and West Asia have come to this country to get ahead, and are doing a damn good job of it. |

Right now we can not say with absolute certainty, but it looks like it for the first few generations after the immigrants have arrived. We are seeing second and third generations of Eastern Asians who are carrying forward the work ethic of the first generation (the immigrant generation). As we know the Ashkenazim Jews have continued for multiple generations to excel in this country. They make up a very large percentage of our intelligentsia. We can be very thankful that they chose to immigrate to this country. What beautiful people they are. |
