I concur with those who think this game will go to the Aztecs but not by as many points as some think.
How about this: The Aztecs threaten early but can't close the deal and end the first quarter up 3-0. Second quarter goes better, and we score a TD. At the very end of the half, the Colonels get lucky and intercept, returning to our 25. But there our D stiffens and Nicholls must settle for a FG. Half time score: SDSU-10, Nicholls State-3. (A few boos are heard)
Third quarter. Colonels start but stall. SDSU, chastened by a Brady Hoke seminar on guts at half time drive for a TD. Now Aztecs-17, Nicholls-3.
Late in the third we drive again, but sloppy play makes us settle for a FG. Now it's 20-3. The Colonels tire in the fourth Q and we drive 70 yards, mostly on the ground. Now it's 27-3. An INT gives us the ball deep in Nicholls' territory and we add a final TD. Now 34-3.
The Colonels get lucky again and return an Aztec fumble to our 12 and are able . . . barely . . . to punch it in with 1:13 seconds left.
Final score: SDSU-34, Nicholls State-10. Stats greatly in our favor.

Agreed with you, William, that we won't score an inordinate amount of points if only because Hoke and Borges are so committed to establishing a running game this year. If we can't do so against Nicholls, we're going to be in deep poop against everybody else so you can bet we're gonna try. And if we're successful and get up big, you can also bet that Hoke and Borges are going to pull Lindley by the middle of the third quarter in order to get Clark a lot of snaps.

I'm sure you all recall that Nicholls State is the team that Air Force thrashed 72-0 to start the season last year. Well, I'm sure they're a bit different than last year - but assuming we're a little more than half the team that Air Force had last year, I'm going to go with 38-10 as the Aztecs open the season 1-0.

I believe we will see some great runs for TDs and a couple of token TDs by are outstanding WRs.
