It actually wasn't too bad. This was one of Chuckles' more well rounded classes.

It actually wasn't too bad. This was one of Chuckles' more well rounded classes. If by "gone" you mean they didn't pan out and left the program, I count 7 of the 21 or 33% not there for the "Long" haul. Although EQ and Shumate had an impact. Just can't remember what happened to everyone.

It's the other five that didn't really set foot on campus that I'd consider real attrition and five out of 21 isn't too bad.

lot of 2* that made big impacts. And three 3-stars who didn't, although JUCO guys are almost always overrated for some reason. It turned out to be a much better class than it appeared it would be at the time.

(apparently its Chelidonura varians) Yea, I see so many names I don't even remember I love giving other people work to do, but James, since you take an interest in this stuff, might be worth it to start tracking it on like say google docs - be interesting and easy to look back later on the classes and schollys outstanding

Embernate...talk about a steal and unearthing a real gem. Credit to our staff. Although most of us never would have thought so at the time, kudos should go primarily to Toby Neinas and this guy: argonauts.ca/video/index/id/22671Neinas was initially believed to be nothing more than payback for Chuck Neinas helping Chuck Long get the SDSU job. Turns out Neinas actually recommended Jimbo Fisher and although Toby's work as ST coach may have been nothing more than adequate, he and Himebauch turned out to be - along with LeCharls McDaniel - Chuck's best recruiters. Himebauch had been just a HS coach, at Harvard-Westlake. However, he helped upgrade the absolute worst position on the team as O-line coach. And while at H-W, Himebauch coached Jonathan Martin, who went on to play at Stanford and some are predicting could be a first-rounder this April. Chuck got Himebauch and Neinas, who had been at then miserable Temple, for peanuts. So both turned out to be very good hires. And keeping McDaniel around from Craft's staff was also a good move. Too bad Chuck had so many other just miserable assistants.

Shumate lettered his Soph year and would probably been 2nd string last year with a good chance to be a starter this year........unfortunately an injury ended his career. Khalid Stevens also had a career ending injury...don't believe he was in this class though. Injuries have a way of stopping talented players.

pretty solid class but no offensive studs there. I would think Ember-nasty and Alec Johnson are studs.
