It's great to anticipate another outstanding Aztec hoops seaon.
But look how long it's taken to rebuild the program! The Aztec BB program fell off the table in the early 90s. It took about 15 years to undo all that damage. And then only because we were lucky enough to hire for BB the equivalent of a Rich Brooks, Dick Tomey, Dennis Erickson, or Bobby Bowden; in other words, someone with a national reputation and outstanding coaching skills. (And I don't need to remind you that we passed only all those men, some more than once.)
Aztec FB fell off the table after 1998 (though the rot had set in on an off and on basis even earlier). Will the resurrection of the program also take a decade and a half? If so, we can relax about paying for transportation to any bowl game until about 2012 or 13.
Let's hope not!
