Quit your whining. If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem TROLL. ....I have been posting on this board since 1998, when I first arrived nothing could keep my optimism from waivering-the Aztecs were the best football team ever, they were national champs lying in wait, they were destined to be the kings of SoCal football. Oh then the slow, cruel and agonizing death of a child began its agonizing journey on my soul. Please Hoke and company reverse the slow killing of the child that did not want to listen to the old farts that kept saying "same old Aztecs" as we blew fourth quarter leads. As we hired JC coaches and unproven bullshitters to lead the way the child kept being bombarded with defeat and humiliation and his death seems imminent. Wait! he is still there, somewhere like a small flame on a bbq grill when you only have one match left and no more lighter fluid. Make me a believer again. Make me feel like a kid waiting for Christmas again when Aztec football starts. Make the cynic in me go away. Chichemeca77 c/o 2000 Chichemeca77 is certainly no troll.

He's been a fan since he was a child, and I can't recall not seeing him posting on these boards. chicimeca is part of the solution."Fans" who keep smiling and nodding in the face of this garbage are the problem. Thanks brother. Bowl records of MWC schools since advent of the conference in 1999: TCU: 4-1 (in just five years in the conference) Utah: 9-0 (including wins in two BCS bowls + two others over Pac-10 opponents) BYU: 3-4 (all wins over Pac-10 opponents) CSU: 3-4 Wyoming: 2-0 (including one over a Pac-10 opponent) AFA: 1-5 UNM: 1-4 UNLV: 1-0 (over an SEC opponent) SDSU: 0-0 Number of bowl wins by conference schools not named SDSU: 24, or an average of 3 each. Number of bowl wins by schools named SDSU: 0.
Number of bowl appearances by conference schools not named SDSU: 42, or an average of 5.25 each. Number of bowl appearances by schools named SDSU: 0.Most recent win over an AQ opponent: TCU: 2009 Utah: 2009 BYU: 2009 CSU: 2009 Wyoming: 2008 UNLV: 2008 UNM: 2008 AFA: 2007 SDSU: 1999Bottom Line: SDSU football has been completely full of crap - just as BigDog41 was in calling you a troll for saying so.

This board has been around since 98? Aztec Talk, in one form or another, has been operating since around '95 or '96, I think. =Bob I think you are correct Bob. I found it in about 1999.

Just my take (and I know I am in the minority on this)....
A fan of a team does not depend on wins and losses. You are a fan of a team because you love them.....for whatever reason.
This is no shot at people who are bummed out, upset, angry, threaten to leave, etc....(many of those will never leave because it IS in their blood).
Long Live the San Diego State Aztecs!!!!

An antidote, my grandfather once asked me: why did you go to SDSU when you could have gone to other schools and you are such a big football fan? My answer: why did you make me a Cardinals' fan by bringing me to camp in flagstaff, and taking me with your 2nd ticket to a preseason game, a regular season game every year, driving out when they played the LA Rams the couple years they were both on the west coast?; why did you drive from Chicago to St. Louis with your father when they moved? You become a fan, whether they win or not - you don't choose them, they choose you.

For what it worth, I have been an Angel fan since I was a kid and Jim Fergosi was shortstop. Let me say there were some very lean years. I had my heart broken more times than one could imagine. But they are my team.
Just like the Aztecs. I have seen some great games. Saw the USC season opener, went to the freedom bowl, and yes had my heart broken numerous times.
I remember Aztec basketball when we were a perennial doormat. Now I get to root for great BB team. Even though they break my heart with gut wrenching losses from time to time. But not once did I ever stop loving or rooting for them.
So, I will come down from OC and see as many games as possible or watch what I can on TV. SO yeah, this year we will turn it around.

Like Aztec70 I am drunk from drinking the cool-aid and I find it counter productive to bitch and moan about the past over and over and over and over and over again.
SDSU football is on the rise and some very good things are happening to the program and there is a positive attitude about the season and future prospects of the team.
Everyone already knows about the history of all the bad coaches and about not living up to expectations and potential. How is comparing the SDSU program to a "CHILD" dying helpful or productive especially ahead of a promising new season?

I am a big Aztec fan and for me it's about being a native San Diegan. This is my city; for better or worse and so it seemed natural for me to choose SDSU to root for. Even after all the losing years - I still can't say I wish I had chosen another school to be for. It almost seems like it is in your blood or it isn't. That may not make alot of sense but it's just the way I feel. The Trenkle years were the toughest - the Fisher years have been the best. Yet I still loved SDSU even through all of that. Who can really say for sure why I just didn't quit or find another team.
