A win is a win. The Aztecs have not won forever and some fans are pissed about the win over Southern Utah? It wasn't pretty, but bottom line.....The Aztecs are half way to the win total of all last year. Go Hoke and staff!!!! Go Aztecs!!!! www.aztecundercover.com/________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Did SDSU lose? Matthew McClanahan Sept. 14, 2009 It seems as though San Diego State fans need to learn how to win more than the football team does. After Saturday's contest, the words "discouraged" and "disappointment" were sprinkled throughout Aztec forums across the web. I say hold the sprinkles and enjoy the ice cream. Perhaps feelings of negativity after SDSU games are a learned behavior for the Aztec faithful. After years of real disappointment, fans have been programmed to curb their enthusiasm and focus on the negatives. But does a man who is starving for food the way Aztec fans are starving for victories turn down a hamburger and demand a steak dinner? Bask in the fact that one of your players, Brandon Sullivan, had a career day rushing the ball and gobbled up over 100 yards on the ground. Marvel at the prolific Ryan Lindley to Vincent Brown combination. Send Rocky Long a letter thanking him for putting a defense on the field that's fun to watch. And dad-gummit, don't forget to tingle when you win.

We should indeed keep things in perspective. 35-19 is an okay score, though I think we easily could have finished at 42-12.
The only aspect of the game that disappointed me, and this could be a problem in the future if it is repeated, is the lack-luster 4th quarter.
But, as you say, a win is a win. And it's just possible that SUU is a slightly stronger team than many anticipated. We will be able to judge that by how the Thunderbirds do in the coming weeks.
The Idaho game will, perhaps, be a better measure of how much progress is being made this year. I know the Aztecs can win, but it may not be a laugher.

Absolutely William. And it is ok to complain about the lack of effort on the last drive and critique. But to listen to some people talk, we lost.
It is still a win and we aren't a football program right now that should look down at any win.
This Idaho game is going to be very interesting. Vegas odds has us favored by 3 1/2.
I have to go back to my original topic on this game.....Why?
Idaho is no better than last year.......We are better, deeper, injury free, and have (what has been reported by most Aztec fans) a much, much, better coaching staff than last year. We beat Idaho by near 30 last year.
How and why are we only favored by 3. As bad of staff as last years was (according to most of the Aztec faithful), I would think we would be favored by AT LEAST 25 in this one.
I think we beat these guys and beat them rather easily.

If Aztec football is significantly improved this year it will be a decisive victory. Decisive means, by my definition, at least a two TD margin of victory and with that last TD not coming very late in the game. (I.e., the Aztecs get ahead and stay ahead comfortably until very late when, perhaps, the Vandals score to narrow a 31-10 score to 31-17.) What is in the back of many minds, of course, is that Idaho did beat New New Mexico State away by 2 TDs and gave the Huskies a good fight. Sure, the Aggies and the Huskies are both pretty lame, but even lame teams usually beat Idaho by 3 or 4 touchdowns. Perhaps Idaho is a bit better than normal this year. And, of course, the game is in their hanger. . . uh, I mean domed stadium. I'll still bet (figuratively) on the Aztecs, but I am not taking this game lightly. Neither should the Aztecs. AzWm

We shouldn't take it lightly and I'm sure Hoke and staff for drilling that in the players heads right now.
This game is much more telling to me, than the UCLA game or the Southern Utah game.
Lets Go Aztecs!!!!!
