We know Boise is going to be a top 25 team in football every year but does Boise help the conference in basketball? I expected once Utah was mentioned to join the Pac12, their basketball recruiting was going to skyrocket, but it hasn't happened at all. And I think Boise basketball will be better than Utah basketball in about 2 years?
Boise's coach (Rice) is an ex Gonzaga assistant and is a great recruiter. In the few years he has been there he has already landed solid transfers and the highest rated recruits the school has ever had and they are from all over the country.
I'm not saying Boise is going to come in and challenge for a MW title every year, but Utah clearly wasn't either. And I do think Boylen will continue to implode Utah's program while Rice will build Boise into a quality program, boosting the MWC's overall strength of schedule and RPI.

Funny I was just thinking about this.
Lets hope Boise brings up our conference quality.

The MWC will help raise the quality of BSU basketball which hasn't been all that terrible of late (NCAA appearance in 2008) and plays in a respectable arena (its name not withstanding) that holds almost 13,000. In the early part of the decade BSU averaged 8,000 or more a couple years in a row. I think the Broncos could become a respectable basketball program in the MWC.

I do like the hiring of their new coach, and if I remember correctly, he has already started to clear house. Going to the MWC will help their basketball program with better talent, teams and stature; but, also, Boise seems to have constructed themselves to first better football, start bettering academics and the rest of the athletics programs on the way. Utah has been blah for a few years now. I think Boise will be pretty competitive in the next few years. CSU seems to be on the right path as well, so the conference could continue to improve.

Another thing... Boise St. is huge up there. I have family who recently moved there and that is all the city cares about. Granted, this is mostly for football, but the point is, they will support their basketball team as it improves and probably be in the upper half of conference standings within a few years. They have a better college atmosphere up there than most people realize, I think.
Its a shame what Boylen has managed to do in Utah. Utah was perhaps the premier hoops program in the MWC when the league first formed. They have been a trainwreck as of late.

maybe they would do a fellow" 2011 MWC " team a favor and play us at the V first week in November or between Christamas and the start of the regular season

The best part about Bosie Basketball versus Utah is 2K feet and not 6K feet.

This is the same reason Utah and Oregon State cancelled their game this year.

They are a team trying to grow and establish a name for themselves, as well as recruit CA .. so why not play a one way trip against a potential top 25 team. Isn't that we have been saying for years that we should do. Their schedule is already out for next year and they are coming to San Diego on Nov 19th (to play USD) and it would make perfect sense for them to also play us on that trip, but we will be in the air either returning from Gonzaga or heading to Ohio unfortunately. They also play at UNLV this year in a one way trip. www.ktvb.com/sports/college/Bronco-mens-hoops-releases-2010-2011-schedule-98636889.html

how many preseason games can a team play- does the tournament we are playing in count as 4 games, Would it be of any value for the coaches to see if there any recruits in the Ohio-Michigan area that might like to come west to the SDSU campus to play basketball.( Carlwell, Amo) Fisher and Dutcher are from the midwest.
