goaztecs.cstv.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/sdsu/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/depth-chartA few noticable moves... Ruffin has already jumped to #3 on the RB depth chart passing up Davon Brown. Chad Young has jumped to #2 on the FB depth chart passing Heers and Miller. Dey Juan Hemmings has dropped to the bottom of the depth chart at one of the Warrior positions. As a side note, I love these daily updates to the depth chart, since I can't make it out to practice, it's one way to tell who's doing well and who's not.

If you read the notes on the right side of the chart injured players are written in italics and at the bottom of the depth chart for that position. DJH hasn't dropped to the bottom of the depth chart, he has an injury which automatically puts him at the bottom. I'm quite sure that when he has recovered he will back in his normal spot in the depth chart.

From what I've seen and read about those guys, both are good moves.

D Brown getting passed up is not a surprise, he was passed up last year in a back filed that needed improvement. Could someone tell me about Fredrick Trujillo? This guy must be one of the strongest guys on the team trying to play DT at 225lbs. How has he not been passed up? I can see if he played DE, but it has to be a matter of time.

If anyone is able to take in a practice I'd be curious about the kicking game. Like to know how Abel Perez is doing so far.

As to the others, I continue to think Chad Young could be a pleasant surprise. When I heard he was walking on I Googled him and the kid was a bit controversial in HS. A human bowling ball physically, which I think makes some doubt his ability but I don't care what a kid looks like if he has game. Also, comments on a blog by a couple fans of one of the teams he played against accused him of being a dirty player for a block he laid on someone. "The refs should have kicked him out!," they said. Well, from my perspective, our team is in dire need of a few more guys who play with a chip on their shoulder.

There is no need for being dirty while playing. Play hard, play tough, no excuses, and with integrity but leave the dirty stuff out. I too am intrigue by what hacksaw called a "fire hydrant" in Chad Young. It would be awesome to see him open up some holes for Hillman or whoever and bring some real physical play to our offense.

Interesting that one of the Freshman DT's is cracking the depth chart but one is not.

I imagine it is like when our fan base whines how dirty air force is because they chop block; it was likely some one's kid that got lit up and they bitched about it

For one thing, it's very apparent Brady Hoke will not allow bad character guys on his team. So tough and physical? Good. Dirty? Unacceptable.

Perry Jackson, the 4* guy Hoke took a chance on because he was injured, is 4th on the depth chart at DE. Guess he's coming along slowly to be careful. Anybody hear about Darryl Jackson, the big O-linemen who couldn't make into SMU? He's supposed to be on campus this week.

That is my take on Hoke too, hence his reticence to snatch up some ex-high rated players that left their previous schools under some question marks. A little edge, a player that finishes a play, that is looking to crush someone, to maybe tip toe on the edge of legal is the type of player we need. Reminds me of Sipe's quote ~ we have fast athletes, we need football players.

What's the word about the O-Line? Any of them look stronger? Meaner?

In this afternoons post practice interview Hoke was asked which group of players has caught his eye . He replied the O-line as a group stood out. Friday they'll be in full pads so we ought to get an idea of progress soon. The next problem will then be is the O-line that good or the D-line that bad.

Last Fall the Dline dominated the Oline, yet they only ended up with what, 21 sacks so that's how bad the Oline was. Therefore if the Oline dominates this Fall, then they likely made bigger strides by far. Plus I would hope the Dline this year is better than last years. Still it's mostly speculation and we won't really know until the Nichols State game. When they play someone else instead of against each other that should answer that.

The whole key to the season is how well the OL can protect Lindley. This is great to hear!
