He's definitely talented and shows good handles, scoring ability and he can clearly rebound and block shots too, but he looks like he's a wing/PF and not really a C.
It depends on who else we sign for the 2011 class, of course, but it looks like me may have decent talent and experience to replace this years starters at F/C. My guess is Shelton (senior) and Crowder (junior) will replace White and Thomas ... with possibly Williams (junior) and 2 freshmen F/C's backing them up.

Has Mr. Crowder met a true college weight program? If not, as long as his frame can handle it, he could probably add 20 lbs between now and November 2011 and be a 6'10" 240 lb Center for the Aztecs.

I like Crowder's game, seems to fit the mold of our most typical PF/C combo posts. He could definitely use a little more bulk, some guys just cant add weight though. Hopefully we land Robert Garrett to back him up, as he is still developing his game based on scouting reports I have read.
I hope we land Garrett and Ryan Anderson to go along with Crowder. Two more spots to fill if we were to get all three of them. Fisher mentioned in yesterdays radio interview that the staff is selling "opportunity" to their recruits. There will be a ton of minutes up for grabs in 2011-12.

I don't think he'll gain too much more weight (maybe 5-10lbs) .. and his game is slashing and running, not pounding it in the paint, although he does have a few very good post moves. Because of this I hope we add one (ideally 2) true post players to go with him like Garrett, Keumper, Stevens or even Cain who is a great rebounder and defender, and although undersized, he's probably more of a true post player then Crowder.

so is the score card so far we have Crowder C/F, Thames G, with offers to Powell-G, Garrett,Anderson C/F.... Stevens, Sequele
our pre- season schedule and rating could be important to get some of these guys but there will be playing time up for grabs at the end of the 2011 ,we lose 4 seniors for sure ,BC (injury red shirt ?),Shelton 's knees, KL (NBA ?), definite need to reload the front line

I agree with you on Crowder's weight, he doesnt seem to have the fram to pack on pounds of size and muscle, much like Malcolm Thomas. I forgot about Stevens... he is a prospect who has intrigued me of late. I like him over Cain, mainly because he is a bit bigger. Either or both would be nice pickups for us in the post though. I have seen both players up close on the court many times....Crowder is NO Malcolm Thomas.

The latest on Ronnie Stevens is very impressive... the Desert Duel is one of the best AAU tourneys around, and it seems like he has been performing among the best at every summer tournament and camp he has been to. Would love for us to land him, kid appears to be improving every time he steps out on the floor.

Crowder looks pretty good to me, but I don't know jack squat about foot work and technique. What do the coaches out there think......Bekays, any thoughts?

I would like to get more of his thoughts after seeing both and at the JC level for both. It sounds like Dahoop is saying that we shouldn't be expecting Crowder to be a Malcom Thomas. On the other hand, that statement is not a negative one (IMO). We have to keep in mind that Malcom Thomas is a pro prospect. That Crowder is not a Malcom, does not mean he won't be a very good player for us.

He seems like more of a wing player that will start at the elbow in a half court set, but he gets a lot of blocks from the weak side and rebounds well because of his quickness and athleticism.
I think he'll be more like Lorenzo Wade (a taller version of course) than Malcolm Thomas which is why it'll be very important to pair him with a tough, physical post player.

My comment wasn't a knock on Crowder it was just that Thomas was a really good player at SDCC and you could see he was going to be an impact player. Crowder will be a serviceable player as long as he has his head on right. On a side note, I was at a JC summer tournament at Azusa Pacific a couple weeks ago where I saw plenty of talented big men. I would have to say: Saddleback, Antelope Valley, Citrus, and Oxnard had some big players (4s and 5s) who had some serious talent; I didn't bother getting player names since I was there observing the officials. There were many D1 coaches in the stands watching these teams (I didn't see if any SDSU coaches were there). It will be interesting if Fisher lands another JC player because there were many talented/athletic players on the court that had high major D1 talent.

Would Crowder be a closer comparison to Abukar, instead of M Thomas?!?
